Okay, since I count literature as another form of art:

Are there any particular books/artists/playwrights/poets that capture you in some way? Any works/authors/characters you admire?

Also discuss: What piece(s) of literature you believe had a significant effect on history

Anything from Shakesphere I think would qualify. In particular his histories.

Les Miserables and Notre-Dame de Paris had large impacts on history. However, I agree with Fireyforce that Shakespeare had an even larger impact. Mainly the further back it dates, the bigger the impact. So, of course, you get Plato's Republic and Aristotle's The Constitution of Athens and Politics, and they had an enormous impact on history.
