Oh, that's right, I forgot you pick and choose which traits you have. rolleyes
dude, if i had every single trait of all the various cultural interpretations of vampires throughout history, i would be a walking contradiction. in some cultures the vampire wasnt sentient and couldnt walk about in daylight, while in other the vampire could walk in daylight and was sentient and could resume a normal life, unnoticed by society (yes, this means eating and drinking whatever s/he feels like). you're stuck in the eastern european, limited-power frame of reference, while i choose to be a more powerful vampire such as can be found in greek and other mythologies.

all elements of the modern vampire myth as adapted by anne rice and chelsea quinn yarbro, and compatible with the greek conception of the lamia as a near demi-god. the greeks were not so much interested in killing vampires (in fact, i dont think they believed that could be done) as they were in distracting them from their victims with simple charms

In other words, you ARE picking and choosing which traits to follow.

yes, because its impossible to conform both to the eastern european and greek mythos. or other ones, i simply use greek because it's a favorite, but i could just as easily be choosing asian vampire traits. and when you think about it, i'm merely choosing the mythos that makes the most sense. i mean, come ON, how feasible is the eastern european nosferatu? not really very feasible at all.
