Slippery b*****d... Steve kept his smile and leaned back a bit. "I see..." He said with a slow nod. "So you'd just bury me in legalease until my head hurt and I'd rather jump outta window then go to court, I get your drift." Chuckling a bit he nodded his head and stretched a bit, standing up and placing both of his hands on the table.

"You've got yourself a deal Doc',"

Holding out his hand to the Doctor he smirked. "Where do I sign,"

The doctor smirked back at the smart reply, standing to take Steve's hand. "You think I like carrying a clipboard around for fun?" With a chuckle, he set the board down and pushed a couple of legal sheets towards Steve, pulling a pen out of his pocket.

"If you'd like to look the contracts over, the first details your pay and benefits, and the second is a confidentiality agreement. So we can 'bury you in legalese' later if need be, as you so put it." He stood straight after that, calmly pulling off his glasses to clean them briefly on the edge of his jacket. Almost done...

"After you finish with those, there's just one more detail to address before I have someone show you to your new room to get settled in."

Steve took the offered board and pen, and plunked his a** back down in the chair, skimming over the contracts. Legalease of course, so it made his head spin. He'd not really seen any of this stuff before, so it was really not holding his interest, instead he just singed on the X and dated it and all of that jazz, then put the pen and board down again and slid them back towards the doctor.

"Alright Doc, what's this last bit o' fun before I get settled in, is it 'bout claiming my firstborn? Cause I'm sure you could have easily slipped it into those Rattata's nest of a contract."

"Ha ha, well, that comes more with executive positions, so you don't have to worry about that." Dr. Hakan obviously had a strange sense of humor...if you could call it that.

"No, just a last matter of protocol if you're going to stay on the island for an extended amount of time. We work with a large variety of both flora and fauna around the labs, and there's little chance of doing so without running across an exotic disease or two along the way. Nothing too serious, but I'd make a safe bet that you'd rather take a simple immunization than spend a couple of weeks worshiping the great porcelain god, am I right?"

The doctor shrugged nonchalantly, nodding towards the man in the suit that had been silent since the meeting had started. "We've all had one, even James back there, who spends more time off the island than on. Better safe than sorry, right?"

Oh fugging great, immunizations aka stick a needle in your arm and pretend to be sorry it hurts. "Yeah, better safe than sorry, words to live by alright."

"Lead the way Doc' let's get this done and over with, not a fan of medical s**t if I can help it yanno? Who is?"

Shrugging a bit he chuckled and rubbed the back of his head. Well, it beat living on the street, and hell, maybe there would be a hot nurse to flirt with.

Nodding curtly, the doctor turned and headed for the door. "Follow me and we'll grab one of the techs to get you taken care of." Variety was sort of nice...good for shaking things up every once in a while. There weren't too many voluntary cases, at least the fun deceptive kind, though a good, exciting forced capture once in a while...

No, time for those thoughts later, but not right now. Not while the subject was still around to be deceived. The smooth smile was still in place as Dr. Hakan directed Steve into a simple room, seemingly outfitted for medical check-ups.

He busied himself with moving straight towards the intercom on the wall, pressing the button and calling for a tech to deliver an 'immunization', while waving one hand distractedly at the suited man's obvious inquiry for dismissal.

Internally grateful to take his leave, mostly from Dr. Hakan, as he'd actually found that this new arrival wasn't so bad, the man gave a half bow to Steve in farewell, hiding his passing feelings of regret. "I have other business to attend to right now, but it was a pleasure to meet you. Perhaps we'll run into one another again. After all, it isn't that large of an island," he joked, slipping out the door with the knowledge that he'd be lucky if he never saw Steve again, considering how quickly his opinion would probably change regarding the one responsible for getting him here...

A couple minutes passed, no time at all in a normal doctor's office, when a young, raven-haired tech slipped in from the lab. She apologized briefly to Dr. Hakan in a hushed voice for taking so long, then hurried to ready the syringe she carried. Once she turned away from Dr. Hakan, she aimed a much warmer smile at Steve, patting the examining table as invitation. "If you could come here for just a moment, sir, I promise to make this as quick as possible."

Steve nodded at the suit and chuckled, "Yeah, that'd be cool, catch ya later man," as he headed out the room. He payed little attention to the Doc, especially when the cute little lab tech showed up. Well Heelllllooooo Nurse!

Steve smiled at her and plopped himself down on the table and turned the dial on his charm all the way up to eleven, giving her a smirk and a wink. "Hey now luv, you can take as long as you want, don't mind looking a pretty face," He said with a cool tone as he offered his arm to her. "Normally I'm the one doing the jabbing, gonna be weird being on the other end if ya get me,"

Dr. Hakan rolled his eyes, but stayed out of the way. When dealing with fools like this, just bring in a pretty face and they'd miss a Tauros stampede through the middle of the room. Too easy.

The tech didn't return the wink, but giggled at the commentary, blushing slightly before turning back with the syringe. "All the same, sir," she said quietly with a smile, cleaning his arm with an alcohol swab, "if I'm quick, it's all the less discomfort for you. I happen to be quite good at this, you know." As if to emphasize, she quickly uncapped the syringe, tapped out the air bubbles with a couple firm flicks, then delivered the shot. She was recapping the needle before he'd have even realized she was done.

"In, out, and gone before you know it," she quipped with a sly smile. There was a touch of sadness in her eyes as she turned away. What a shame...this one seemed like such fun too. He would have been nice to have around more often...ah well...

"Aw but where's the fun in that," He chuckled when she turned away, noting the sadness in her eyes, but he figured that was just a case of 'not dipping the pen in company ink' syndrome, and left it at that. He was sure she'd been fun, but eh, can't win em all.

Rubbing the shot then pulling his hand away he turned towards Hakan again, "So now what?"
PostPosted: Mon Aug 04, 2008 2:24 am

"If you two are quite finished," Dr. Hakan quipped dryly, turning after noting the nod from the tech. "I'll show you to your quarters here and you can get settled in. You may or may not feel some drowsiness from the immunization. If so, feel free to take a nap and the feeling will pass. It's completely normal. You have no duties to attend to just yet, so relax for now and make yourself at home. We'll contact you with further details within a few days."

He was already leading the way quickly down the hallway towards the dormitory wing, winding his way through the seemingly identical corridors with ease, finally stopping in front of a door like most others, marked only by a number. #54.

"Here you go. This will be your room. It's rather stark now, yes," he admitted, pushing the door open, "but you're free to decorate if you wish. Do you see the intercom on the wall?" He moved closer to the wall, stepping around the table in the center of the room. Other than the table, there was little in the room except for a single bed, a couple chairs, and another doorway that led into the bathroom. Dr. Hakan was pointing to a small speaker built into the wall. "Just press the button if you need anything, and most likely, within reason of course, we can get it for you. Food, drink, any basic needs will be easily obtained. Specialty items might need to wait for a cargo ship, but if you keep it simple, we'll have no problems."

Already, Dr. Hakan was growing fidgety, ready to leave and get as far away from the subjects' living area as possible, but he wouldn't show it. No, keep up the ruse as long as he was in the presence of the subject. Deception in person, then drop the act as soon as he was safely away.

Instead, he calmly crossed his hands behind his back and stood near the doorway. "Are there anymore questions, or should I leave you to get settled?"

"I think I'm good, thanks Doc," Steve slapped the older man hard on the back as he headed into his room and looked around. "Bit skimpy on the digs, I might put in a request or two, we'll see, more than I'm used to that's for sure." He put his Guitar down near the bed and turned around to the Doctor.

"Well, guess this is where we part ways, I'm sure you've got sciency things you gotta get to doing,"

"Of course. I'll leave you to get settled in then."

With that, the doctor nodded curtly, then turned and exited the room, pulling the door shut behind him. One more down...so many to go...

Smiling eerily to himself, Dr. Hakan strode down the hallway, back towards the lab. He had planning to do.

Steve nodded and moved over to the bed, kicking off his shoes and then flopping down, resting his head on the pillow. He looked up at the roof and sighed, then closed his eyes.

He needed a nap.
