"Oh, okay. That's good", she said, smiling sweetly and licked his cheek once. Very lightly, but it was a clear show of affection.
"Of course I care", she added in a lower tone. They had only just met, but already she felt like she didn't want to be separated from him. They seemed to have a lot in common, and she just simply felt good around him. At least they weren't alone anymore.

"So.. I suppose we'll drop the race and walk together the rest of the way? It's not far now", she continued, wagging her tail eagerly, still smiling.
"The evening breeze will dry your fur soon.. and luckily it's not that cold either, so you won't get sick." She really couldn't remember the last time she'd enjoyed the company of another gladier. And never had she grown so attached to anyone in such a short time.

Sterlling was taken by surprise, to the point of backtracking and flopping down two steps away. He blinked twice, displays of affection like those... he wasn't really used to them... not to mention it made something begin to grow inside of him, like, he wanted to feel such affectionate feelings for the other too. After all there were two of the same kind, right?

"Yes." he agreed, smilling a little himself. "I suppose we got sabotaged, after all..." he shrugged and took the first step ahead. "I like the breeze." he mumbled absentmindedly. "And the fireflies in summer..." oh, how random could he get already...? What did Summer had to do with Fall after all? Practically nothing, but...

"What do you like, Lunatéa?" he asked right after.

Lunatéa smiled her brightest smile, and her eyes seemed to glow brighter too as she listened to Sterlling.
"Me? Well.. I love the stars and the moon, like I mentioned earlier.." she said, trying to think of more things as they continued walking.
"Fireflies are pretty too.. and so are butterflies, the few times that I've seen those." She felt the urge to tell him that she liked him a lot as well, but thought that maybe it was a bit too soon. She could tell him later on.
"I hope we can stay together like this.. It just feels so right somehow, being with him", she thought to herself.

Ah, what the heck. She could tell him now. Honesty was a virtue after all..
"And, well, I like you a lot too", she finally added, looking over at him. "It's been a long time since I last enjoyed myself this much." It was true. He was so kind despite his rather grim appearance. She thought she could see the glow in his chest grow a bit brighter than it had been.. maybe it was just her imagination.

Sterlling smilled at Lunatéa. He'd never seen a butterfly-butterfly, only moths that used to fly around at nights... Shrugging he thought of how his sisters used to say that they were pretty and colourful. Really... why do only those living under the daylight have beautiful, bright colours...? It was a little sad... not that he thought that his own colours were bad... or Luna's... it was just...

"And, well, I like you a lot too...'????

If Sterlling could he'd have blushed like humans do, quite fiercely as well. His heart skipped a bit and now was emitting stronger light, you could almost say he had a small lantern stuck in there... Well, okay that was awkward actually. Sometimes he hated himself for being so obvious.

"I..." he mumbled uneasily, unsure of his reply. He didn't want to seem like he was rushing things. "I... like you too... Luna..." he mumbled, it was hard to not look embarassed as he spoke that though. Well maybe... just maybe this was a bit fast forward of him. Then again it was Lunatéa who first spoke about liking him.

Lunatéa felt her heart skip a beat at his reply. Could she really be this lucky? Could they have been destined to meet like this?
Well, she had had that premonition of sorts.. Boy, was she glad she got out tonight.
She smiled at Sterlling again, and briefly pressed her cheek against his.

"We're here", she then said as they arrived at the edge of the clearing. There wasn't a single cloud in the sky to hide the stars. The moon was already quite high, and the crickets were chirping as loudly as ever.

"The rock's over there.. in the middle. And it seems there are still some flowers here even though it's gotten colder", she continued. This was the only place she knew where the flowers she called 'moon-lilies' grew.. They bloomed at night, the blossoms a pale pink or purple, the colour visible even in the faint light of the moon.

Sterlling, still one part embarassed, one part even more excited than before, followed Lunatéa without saying much else. In truth he had that urge to giggle, out of the blue, but he held himself and did not. Oh, boy... wasn't that weird, just now...?

Nodding when the other said they were finally there, he took some brief moments to scan their surroundings while Luna kept talking about it. He wondered why he had never noticed this little place. Dwelling so long in the moonlit forest you'd have expected him to know every little part of it, but no... It would look like, maybe, he had missed some places.
He felt the need to smile and so he did, or rather grinned, dashing ahead while chuckling softly. The low grass underneath his paws had a pleasant feel. Springing upwards to tap against the rock's surface and climb it by jumping, doing a spin in middair -just for show, not that it was needed-. The rock's surface was smooth to the touch and cold, indicating that nobody had sat there in a while.

Tilting his head backwards he openned his differently coloured eyes to the sky. The trees all around the clearing, reaching upwards, made the sky seem closer as if it existed solely for this place, the moon and stars shinning only for those present there.
Turning to Lunatéa he smiled a genuine smile. The scenery seemed fitting for her. The lillies sprouting here and there contrasted beautifully with her dark coloured fur that had the colour of the sky -he just noticed.

"Thank you." he suddently said. He didn't really know why he was thanking the other, again. But it somehow didn't seem to fall out of place.

Lunatéa let out a tiny giggle, seeing Sterlling seem so excited. Following the male just a few steps behind him, she watched as he climbed the rock. As he turned to her, smiling, and thanked her - she wasn't sure what for, but it was nice anyway - she smiled back and said, "You're welcome."
She'd never been there with someone else - it had always been just her. It was much nicer this way, to share this special place with someone.

She climbed onto the rock and laid down next to Sterlling, then rolling onto her back so that she could see the sky better.
"Wow.. they seem to be so close tonight", she sighed. "Like they're here to see us", she added with a giggle. It was like they were the only ones in the whole world.. It felt nice. They had so much in common, yet they were still different enough to complete one another. She smiled at him again, beckoning him with her eyes to lay down next to her.

This was their special place now. Not just hers.
It was all happening pretty fast, and she hadn't really noticed it at first.. but now she was sure that she wanted to stay with Sterlling forever. With him, she wasn't lonely anymore.

Sterlling looked down to Lunatéa and smilled a little. Here to see, them, huh? No matter how silly and childish the thought might have seemed at first... it was a beautiful thought... even though it was really selfish, to think that all the stars were there to see you.
Rolling on his back himself, he neatly positioned himself next to Luna and looked up.
"Well what do you know..." he spoke in a quiet voice reaching one front leg upwards, as if trying to paw the stars. They really did seem close. "Do you think... that if we fly high enough we might touch them?" he questioned in a silly remark, giving up on touching the stars way above them in the sky with his paw. "If you could have a star... what would you do with it?" he questioned.

"If I had a star, I'd give it to you." he suddently said. It was so spontaneous that he scared himself, turning to look at Luna, blinking. "Wh-What I mean..." he stuttered awkwardly. "It would match... w-with your eyes... you know..." Man, what was wrong with him now. He couldn't be stuttering seriously, could he...? It was embarassing, so embarassing.
Without even realizing it... what was hapenning to him.

Luna's cheeks felt hot all of a sudden as she looked into Sterlling's eyes. No one had ever said something so sweet, so beautiful to her.
"Thank you", she said and smiled. "No one's ever said anything so sweet to me before."
Then, she pondered for a moment. What would she do if she had a star?
"Umm.. If I had a star.." she finally said, "I'd take you with me so we could ride it across the night sky."
She giggled a little again. "Sounds a bit silly, doesn't it?"

She turned to look at the stars again. "I wish we could go together, to the most distant star.. I'm sure the world looks beautiful from up there."
Then, the female wiggled a bit closer to Sterlling, so that their sides were almost touching.
"I.." she began in a low tone, "I wish we could be together forever." She gently pressed her cheek against his.

Sterlling shook his head in a negative motion when Luna said it sounded silly. "All I have to do is catch one for you then, then we could ride it, and... and it'd be... ours?" he looked over at Luna, listenning to her words and right then just realized that they both had practically been thinking of the same thing all along. If they were there, they were not alone, they... they had one another, so they needn't be alone anymore. Blinking twice when she pressed her cheek against his he returned the light caress and smilled, tail wagging after him.

"Why do you wish we could? Can't we? It's not as if there's anyone prohibiting it, is there?" he giggled lightly. Indeed, there was no need to be lonely, was there? And the solution was ever so simple, it was a little annoying.

Lunatéa smiled again, but this time her smile wasn't as bright as it had been before.
"Yeah, I suppose.." she said. "But you never know, something might happen.."
Now, when she had finally found a kindred spirit, with whom she felt comfortable, she could feel a small lump of sadness inside her. It wasn't big, but all the more painful.

Whenever you find happiness, you fear it'll be taken away from you.
What Lunatéa felt at that moment was that particular fear. She wished it would go away - surely Sterlling would stay with her, even without her asking him to. ...right?

Her tail was wagging gently as she turned to him and licked his cheek.
She had never felt anything like this before. Like it was meant to be.. Still, she couldn't quite put it into words.

Sterlling sighed at Lunatéa's words. Right... something might happen. While, indeed, it was quite true, and being true it was quite bothersome he just wouldn't settle for that. In the same fashion the world might end tommorow or something simillar.
"Yeah..." he agreed, after all Luna wasn't going on something that could not happen. She was being realistic and he was cynical, but just becasue of that he scowled, his ears dropping back.
"And maybe a meteor falls on my head, a fire burns the forest or rain floods the river wrecking everything too." he was suddently sounding sullen. Usually it was him the one doing the dark thoughts and he, for some reason, didn't like Lunatéa making them. He wanted her to be happy... he realized. Smilling made her shine while this... it was just as if rainclouds have clouded the night sky, hiding the moon behind their silvery curtain of fog.

At the gentle lick he closed his eyes halfway, somehow satisfied with the familiarity quickly growing between the two of them. "If anything happens we'll deal with it when it does." he tried to reasure her, turning all the way towards her and gently pressing his nose against her's. "How bad can it be anyway?" he sounded carefree. He was confident, even so, he wasn't OVERconfident. He realized that if harsh times ever decided to face them both would have to try their best to see through them. Even so it was comforting... if you share hardships... don't they say its easier to see them through?

The glow that had dimmed from Lunatéa's eyes returned, even brighter than before, and she started smiling again.
"If you're with me, I think we'll get through anything", she said. "Right?"
The bad feelings she had were starting to fade already, little by little. Sterlling's words were reassuring. Surely they'd overcome any harships if they just stuck together..

Right then, Luntéa happened to look up at the sky, and the smile on her face widened and she said to Sterlling "Look! A shooting star!"
Indeed, there were several of those right above them at that very moment.
To Lunatéa, it seemed like the stars, the universe itself gave them its blessing. Her anxiety was gone. You were supposed to make a wish when you saw a shooting star, right? Her wish was that she and Sterlling would be happy together.. 'ever after', she thought and chuckled in her thoughts.

"Did you make a wish?" she asked Sterlling.
PostPosted: Mon Aug 25, 2008 11:31 am

Sterlling sighed. He didn't really believe in wishes and shooting stars. But... Luna seemed so genuinely happy that he couldn't help himself. After all miracles hapenned, he reminded to himself. In a single evening your life might be turned upside down. It was as strange as it was beautiful and as great as small it could be.
So he closed his eyes for a brief moment and hoped his wish to be heard. He wanted for Lunatéa to be happy. He wanted to be okay and to be with her. So he wished of wellbeing and a time when the nights wouldn't be filled with the void of the sleeping woods but with the fires of faerie-light, absorbed directly from long-lost dreams he had when he was but a fledgling pup, and Lunatéa's comforting presence.

Is it possible for a person who was hated his whole life to learn how to love literaly overnight? It seemed that for Sterlling it was. He who had never shown or received any affection in his life could now genuinelly feel his newly awakenned feelings and be content with it.
Turning to Luna at her question he smilled quietly over at her.

"Did you make a wish?" he returned the question enigmatically, cocking his head to one side. This was proof enough he did make one himself but he would not say.
"You mustn't say though." he suddently spoke up. "If you do it's not going to be fulfilled."
Eh? Who was the one that said that? It sounded familliar...

Lunatéa let out a tiny giggle.
"Of course I made a wish", she said in a tone which indicated she was confident in it coming true. They were both still young.. they had so much time to build their own happiness. Their own little world. The thought was a bit childish and maybe even a bit selfish, but she didn't care. Others didn't really matter, did they? They had each other, and that was all that mattered to them.

She hadn't even noticed, but they had been there for quite a while already.. The moon had drifted over the clearing. Only a few more hours until sunrise.. To be honest, she felt a bit tired. She wanted to curl up in her cave with Sterlling by her side.. So much had happened that night. All of a sudden, she wasn't alone - she had found someone with whom she had so much in common.. She wasn't sure what to call the feeling inside her.. but it seemed both new and familiar in some strange sort of way.
She was pretty sure it was like what her parents had felt for each other.. that thing called love. So, now she wasn't a stranger to it anymore, either.
Sterlling seemed to feel the same way.

"I'm getting a bit sleepy.." she finally told him.
"We've been out here for pretty long already, it's going to be morning soon.. How about we find ourselves a place to sleep in?"
