I love writing, naturally, and it doesn't take much to go from poetry to song. Especially since a lot of songs repeat themselves (choruses and such). But what do you do if you've got the writing talent but not the vocal talent?
I know you could sell it, but I want it to be sung the way it is in my head, but I can't sing...it's so frustrating! I even have music to the songs in my head, but I can't play an instrument either. There should be a machine that can attach to your brain and 'translate' thoughts.
I'm always coming up with stuff like that, I think it's a sign of being unhinged.

learn to play an instrument, and then play your songs for someone who can sing. (I have the opposite problem) xp

Well, I think you should just work on singing. Not everyone's born with raw talent, but it can certainly be acquired if you try.
As for the instrument, you can ask someone to work with you on that or you can do as multifruit said and learn how to play something. I'd go for the keyboard! =) Or guitar.

This might be off topic, but I would love for there to be a machine that could record your dreams, so that next time when you tell your friends, "Ahh! I had this amazing dream last night!" You could just show them, and not stumble through some silly/half recalled explanation.

I've been writing lyrics since 8th grade. I picked up bass guitar in the hopes of utilizing that to get in a band because, as my wife reminds me constantly, I'm tone deaf and my talent at an instrument could never be better than mediocre. I'm not really cut out for either.
The only place for people like us is maybe managing a band, or working somewhere in the infrastructure of recording studios.
Lyricists give up a lot of creative control, and I know that's hard to do, but a hit song is a hit song equals money in your pocket. I'm not saying "selling out" is ok, but think of it this way:
Say you record a song just the way you want it. You share it with the world. Your happy. The world is happy. Before you know it some punk kids are gonna take your song, cover it, change key, change tempo, maybe even improvise some of their own lyrics. In short, ruining it.
I'm not trying to tell you what to do, just some food for thought, and hopefully some comfort that you are not alone.

exclaim Hey you should always try, maybe you're just not born with that talent, If you've tried and tried, but still you can't do it, than ask a friend or sibling to sing it and maybe you can play and instrument! Get the family involved, thay may like it!

Well, first things first, have you tried voice lessons? I may be tone deaf, but you may be susceptible to training.
