Suddenly, Lord Tubek emerges from the forest, accompanied by his army of sea-dwelling Naga, including the dreaded General Mivnor, survivor of the Pheldrax Conflict. He raised his spear, adorned with the banner of Faranaria, proof of his noble heritage. His serpentlike soldiers answered with a hearty battle cry of "KAVAR!"
But suddenly, Vintuzler the Exiled Goblin mage unveiled himself and his horde of hobgoblins. "Forsooth! For I have come to kill all who still remain of the Roquell Tribe, and their allies!" But then even MORE SUDDENLY, an armada of hippogryphs descended from the clouds, ridden by the fabled Valkyries of Van Vandenburg, wielding the Orihalcon blades of Ulysses...

RP Retrospective Review
I confess: I had some fun here based on the concept alone. The idea of kingdoms having their elite soldiers literally tie their life essence to their weapon in exchange for a unique magical power is actually pretty cool. Think of the possible theme exploration, where only the wealthy kingdoms are able to flourish under this new discovery, pointing out the income inequality and how America cares more about military might than the common folk. Not only that, but it makes for an intriguing medieval equivalent of war deterrence, like possessing nuclear arms and the innate hypocrac-
Nnnnope! Just another excuse for non-stop action scenes happening WAAAY too fast for everyone to keep up (I'm not bitter! You're bitter!!!).
Anyway, yeah. Reign of Blades was the first time I was let down during a GaiaOnline RP. It had a fun and interesting quirk for its world, but swiftly devolved into Elliot devoting far too much time and focus on world building and setting up future plot points. He also seemed to love creating Tektek avatars, as he would even design them for incidental NPCs.
Ted was right; It's silly and incredibly counterintuitive to introduce guns into your medieval-era RP that was built on the premise of magical melee weapons as the standard method of battle. You could probably get away with it much later as a means to raise the stakes, but Elliot just couldn't help himself. He must have really wanted to do a fictional story where the gun gets introduced as a game changer. I distinctly remember he wanted to do that for the Dynasty Warriors RP he proposed.
Wasted potential aside, I enjoyed portions of this RP (When I was able to post). I'll even go so far as to call Reign of Blades the best RP that Elliot ran. A most prestigious honor from one such as I, I know.
(P.S. Shuddup! Leon Viralis is a totally cool name! . . . OK, It's a totally fine name!)
