i'm dying to get a trigger for my trombone but my mum [who's not a muso] doesn't see the point, because it's so expensive.
please help! i've been trying to tell her but she doesn't understand that it would really help.
she doesn't know what 7th position is, and i've tried to show her but she doesn't care.
a trigger would help me so much! what should i say?

I am not sure if you play trombone for band, but ask your Bd to talk to your mom.... Do you NEED it? It sounds like it, ask your dad, grandma or grandparent... Or somebody... instead of buying, try renting. I never rented either of my instruments, including my trombone... Does your school have one? Maybe if you dont want your Bb Tenor, maybe you can trade it, if you want, and a Trigger -or- F attachment is a professional... You probably knew... Trigger trombones....Can't it help with the 6 and 7th positions?? I could use that.. ._. (I can't reach 7th...) Or look on Ebay, I got my Cecilio Trombone(Bb) and my Gemeinhardt Flute off there. Maybe you can ask some people in your neighborhood if they have one...
Tell her "Mom, you don't understand how much this will help me. This is something I want, and I'm really good at this instrument, but I need a little help on something. I am really interested in a Professional one. Could you call Mr/Mrs/Ms ___________ for more info?" Hope I helped....

I own a trigger trombone. It is a hell easier. But I agree with the above post, just ask your band director to talk with you mom. I don't know if you would need to use it if you're on the higher seats but it is a lot easier to play with.
If that doesn't work then you could always just get a trigger trombone. Ever tried craig's list? I bought a Bach for 400$ and it was in new condition(should cost over 2k$) You should haggle that with your mom.
