~}A Life at Sea{~
"The Locker" was the name of the first ship I sailed on, well, snuck on. If you were only a child that was the only way onto a ship; wait until it sailed away and then reveal yourself and hope they had a job for you. The Navy would've captured any sailor trying to take a child aboard their ship without paperwork. And there was the chance the Captain would decide he didn't want to chance having a kid on board if ever they did run into the Navy and order the kid to be thrown overboard. I was thrown out of three ships before I found "The Locker", I had chosen it because the name made it sound like some sort of treasure-hunter's ship, and I was sort of right. Pirates, that was the crew of "The Locker". But they accepted me as their cabin boy, well, girl, but due to the superstitions I didn't let them know that. Only the Captain knew, and that was because he had left a daughter behind on shore and knew the difference between a little girl and a boy, even if the little girl was somewhat of a tomboy. Hey, I'd have to be somewhat of a tomboy if I was adventurous enough to sign on with pirates. Anyways, I sailed on with them as their cabin boy, named "Peter". Actually I can't remember the name I had before that, so Peter may as well have been my real name. That's what it became. Pirates only get to know eachother on a first name basis, sometimes making their last name their first name to distinguish themselves. As a kid, I just got to stick with Peter. Now, there's some other names you might want to know, and they're Jim, Ginger, and Stroke. I think Jim was Jim's real name, and I have no idea how Ginger and Stroke got their names if they aren't the real ones, but those are their names. Jim's a good guy, close to the Captain, does his job well whether he gets payed or not, lives for adventure like me and the Captain. Ginger and Stroke aren't the only bad guys, but they're head bad guys; all in it for the money. They did their jobs well and that's the only reason Captain let them stay on the ship. If it ever was found out that I was a girl they'd be the first two to throw me overboard in a storm as a sacrifice to better their luck. They got their luck alright, and a lot more...
