Just curious, but What kind of music groups are in your school? Or if you're out of school, in your community? Or if you just like to sing and arent in chorus, whatever you know. For my High school there's a bunch of church choirs stare Two school choruses. Choir(the average no tryout one) and Chorale biggrin the good one/ tryout need one. We also have a boys only Barbershop group and a Girls Only chorus. The School musical in the spring. FAME which is a musical theatre group which does little tidbits from musicals. Very popular. (I'm auditioning for it tomorrow, wish me luck!) and various band group that really don't matter to me because I'm not in it. You can also audition for All-County Chorus, and go to InHouse or NYSSMA solofest but none of you people know what that is soooooooooo thats probably it.

Ooh, I hope you make it! biggrin
My high school had 4 groups: chorale (no audition, mostly for girls who just needed a fine arts credit), Chamber Singers (mostly sophomores, mixed), Bel Canto (all girls, lots of sophomores and juniors), and A Capella (juniors/seniors only, mixed). A Capella was the top group in the school... and in the state. So... everyone wanted into it. If you were male, you were pretty much guarenteed admittance, but if you were female, you had to have a really pretty voice, be outstanding at sightreading, or have a range that only you and a few others could provide (or any combination of the three).
College... eh. There're two audition groups for the school: Concert Choir (mixed) and Womens' Chorale (obviously not mixed). There's also a non-audition gospel choir, where most of the non-white singers go, because "black voices don't blend well." It's total bullcrap, but... *shrug*
I managed to weasel my way into Concert Choir. mrgreen

Ooh neat. Thanks for the moral support. I'm Glad my school has a lot of music stuff. I mean FAME probably gets more auditions than people trying out for a sport. eek I mean they have four audition days nearly full.
I'm glad I'm a guy when it comes to music. It really does make things easier. Less competition. There's a lot of good male singers. Many better than me, but usually not too many so very few poeple are rejected.
As for college, well I'd probably be jealous that there aren't any all guy groups though I guess it makes sense because of the numbers. Great job making Concert Choir! biggrin

Lets see, in my high school we had Concert choir (which we usually referred to as freshman choir, since it was mostly people who wanted to get into Chambers the next year/needed the fine art credit), Chamber Singers, which was our audition only choir, Sophmores and up. Chamber Singers was supposedly the elite group, but in the past few years, it was becoming less elite as people didn't care as much. *shakes fist a people who didn't care* This year apparently it's pretty bad because there were 25 of us who graduated and it was only a 43 person group... redface Anywho, I was in Chamber singers. And despite being the smallest 4A school at state, with the smallest choir, we managed to take 9th and 4th in sight reading, so yeah. We were pretty good. There was also Spectrum, which was a mixed intstrumental and vocal group that did more popular stuff. They did a Beatles Abby Road thing last fall. They were pretty good, when they actually tried. We had a bit of an apathy problem in our school... There was a musical every fall and they were pretty popular as well.
College we have the college choir, which you have to audition for, but I think he accepts everyone, he just wants to hear you sing beforehand. So yeah, it's a bit of a step backwards from what I'm used to, but it's still fun. I'm also taking voice lessons for college credit, which is fun. biggrin Not really a musical group, but yeah. it works.
I've also been roped into the choir of one of the local Presbyterian Churches... despite the fact that I'm not Presbyterian... I'm still not quite sure I understand that. Oh well, it's fun.

Great job making Concert Choir! biggrin Oh, I'm sure that if you go to a larget school, there will be all-guys' groups, and probably even more regular performance groups.
It's just that the school I go to is kinda small. x_x;

The fact that you have that many choral groups makes me think that you're probably bigger than my school. We've just got one choir. The only other musical group is the Pipe band, which most people hate, but I think they sound cool. biggrin One of my friends is trying to get something together for some sort of Orcherstal ensemble or something because she plays the viola and has no where to play at the moment.

We have one big choir of 80 people, and our choral director separates us after that with banner singers (sing the National Anthem at all home indoor games) and DIVA's. We also do chorus festivals and all that.

My high school had 1300 students and only 45 of them were in the choir! That's amazing...

I made FAME yeah. I sang No Business like show business for my audition despite the fact that everyone in my family thought I should go with a different song I was considering. Yeah! All the after school groups is probably the best thing about my high school. We also have to do two solos as test y'know. One has to be in a foreign language, For the fall I'm gonna do Soon its Gonna rain < Instramental version. Not the best example but useful for practicing since my piano playing sounds like a cat choking. sweatdrop

Any lyrics or what it's from?)
