User Image Outside. She'd ventured outside before, of course, but never this far from home. It had simply triggered some unspoken need in War's mind when she realized that, after putting on her newest suit since she'd yet again grown out of the old one, that she was grown. Perhaps not entirely to her full and complete adult size, but grown none the less. And she needed... to what?

To expand her horizons, quite simply. To find some space to carve out as her own, where she would not be expected to follow directions under the thumbs of others. Was this a desire for... freedom? How peculiar. None the less she enjoyed the calling.

And so she flitted from tree to tree with her self-affecting version of her mother's gravity manipulating talent somewhere on what one might call "the edge of civilization". She was quite capable of keeping herself constantly afloat as her mother and brother did, even if she was unable to shift the gravity of anything else, but by some quirk of personal preference she chose just as frequently to make long "jumps" or walk as she did to not touch the earth at all.

It was night; her activities startled a few sleeping birds who shrieked in a panic and made for safer perches. War contemplated following them for a brief moment before deciding that would not be satisfactory considering her current desires and leaping yet again to glide in her personal zero-g toward the branches of another tree. There was something to be found out here, if only she knew what she was looking for. All she could do was look until she found it or grew bored with the exhilaration of physical activity and unknown territory, of being a form only vaguely seen in the dark and little more than a flash of red and blue and black in the moonlight between branches.

It would likely be a while yet before she grew bored. She was more patient than her mother.

User ImageHow sweet the settling of the sun was, giving way to twilight and eventual dusk. How his body relished the sensation of darkness playing across his symbiotic skin, all but masking him within its enveloping embrace. Jagged twin moons peered wordlessly through the night, watching all that crawled and rustled and slithered on, oblivious to the monster's presence. It did not seem right for a creature so large to situate his bulk effortlessly within the slender branches of the forest trees, moving wordlessly and with feral grace. War was not the only creature who'd cast herself into unfamiliar lands--but he owned the night, devouring its silence so his own, foreboding presence could seep through and taint the quiet forest with unease.

The screams of frightened birds reached sensitive ears, and the monster froze for only a moment so the moon could set the ivory spider stretched across its chest ablaze. A brief flicker of movement, and the beast had vanished into the dark, claws ripping through the thick, sturdy skin of trees in his leaping pace to see just what the commotion was about. There. His Other hissed before they nearly jerked to a halt with surprise, catching the fleeting red-and-blue tails of what appeared to be an all-too familiar nemesis.

"Spider." Came the throaty growl of the not-man and the alien hiss of the symbiote, two voices made into one. "Ours!" How careful they'd been to speak quietly to not alert the little fool even as they ripped through the trees, claws flexing and drool spilling from his maw. So close. Close enough to practically sink their teeth into a suit-covered flank if they so wished it. Instead, a razor-tipped paw lashed out to smash the smaller creature, hoping to knock him down to the forest floor below where the true savagery could begin.

"Didn't you think to even stop and say hello to your old friends?" Venom roared with mirthful frenzy, while the symbiote trembled against him. They'd break his body into little bits before he even knew what had hit him.

It was probably safe to say that War had not expected a sudden attack. Not at all. She was not aware of any enemies she had yet made who would do so, and things of the wild that were capable of doing her harm were not supposed to be up in the treetops. Needless to say she was rather confused when massive claws gouged into her hip and slid with little effort through cloth and muscle, her attacker shouting something about "old friends".

War spiraled down into the darkness below the trees for a moment before she thought to catch herself, momentum shifting as zero-g reasserted itself and she altered her direction to float to the side rather than down. A break between trees presented her with a patch of moonlight and she looked down to attempt an examination of her leg.

Oddly her reaction was not of anger, fear, or pain. It hurt incredibly, but she did not cry out. Rather she stared in fascination at the inner workings of her outer thigh, the brief flash of white bone greeting her gaze before the bleeding covered it. The black material of her suit seemed to grow even darker as it started absorbing the blood, taking on a glossy, slick sort of sheen in the pale light. She could not make out proper details or color in the off-light.

Bothersome... She would have to return home and have it treated. She did not wish to return. But her leg would not function right now, any attempt to shift the muscle greeted with pain and bare twitches of movement where the fibers of flesh had not fully severed. Locomotion was not really an issue, but she would prefer to keep the function of her leg, and not to have it infected. She did not wish to live with the handicap of a crippled limb when she had yet to find a proper opponent to do battle with in the Game.

"I would greet old friends if I had any friends." She did not speak loudly into the darkness, but she felt the one who had attacked her was near enough it would not matter. Her tone was matter of fact as she slid back into the darkness. "And I do not by any means recognize you." But she would soon. And as she felt yet more blood soak into the fur around her wound she vowed to herself that if he did not have a satisfactory explanation for this behavior that she would make this one pay, whether now or later.

One did not provoke War without facing the consequences.

The hot splash of fluid coating their meaty claws sent a shiver of exultion rippling all the way up their broad back to the tips of their flailing tails, and the monster hissed low with satisfaction. "Bye bye, birdy~" He said hoarsely, oblivious to the saliva that spilled from his jaws to coat dark cheeks and chin alike. But what was this? No noise, even when the rich scent of blood filtered into their delicate senses... In fact, the creature seemed still mostly upright, no semblance of fear radiating yet from the sleek form. But aggression--oh yes, they could sense that.

We've made a mistake... His Other noted slyly when their victim spoke, and the voice was unmistakably female. "Whoopsies." Venom growled with amusement, claws ripping through the bark as he slid silently to land on the ground below with a thump. A little morose, wasn't she? Well, they had just flayed her open! "So sorry about that sweetheart! We thought you were someone else."

He lumbered forth to better circle around her, noting her strange garb that all but screamed with old memories. Such a statement she was making, wearing it in a place like this? "But you don't look like our little Spider, no... in fact, you look like that loudmouthed idiot we foudn to be so amusing..." Deadpool, hadn't it been? Heh!

"Pretty thing like you might get hurt out here in this forest... Heh!" He paused to better eye the oozing wound across her leg, glowing eyes crinkling up so he could better grin with what appeared to be a bit of remorse. A bit. "We can fix it... though it won't be very nice." A roar of laughter burst forth from his chest, and suddenly the monster was at her side, looming with that thrashing tongue mere inches from her skull. "Care to give us a name with that pretty face? We're Venom..."

Aggressive? Yes, War could be aggressive. It was in her name, and her breeding, and her personality. She was not the type to flare up at the drop of a hat, however; she was more like a volcano. You knew it was down there, but you could never be sure when it would erupt, nor could you always be certain why.

His attitude was intruiging. At first War thought he was simply playing it up to catch her off guard, but there was simply too much maliciousness mixed in with his flippancy for her to believe that either aspect was insincere. Continuing to listen, along with examining what she could of his form in the darkness, lent her clues he may not have realized he was giving. If he even cared. That one bit, though...

A "loud-mouthed idiot" that she resembled? War had no doubts he was speaking of her father, whether he knew it or not. She did love her daddy in her peculiar way but she was by no means blind to his faults. And still, and still, she remained silent, drifting a bit to the side only out of caution when he approached. It was after he gave his name that she spoke.

That lashing tongue made her nervous, reflex training and muscle memory lending her forepaws the speed to flash out and clap it between them with only enough force to hold it. She pulled a paw away to examine the sticky saliva now clinging to the cloth there with a curious tilt of her head. "Father is less of an idiot than he has strange tastes in... everything. And the attention span of a gnat and the social grace of a drunken crocodile. Though I suppose there is little difference in the end result." She drifted into another patch of moonlight, a brighter one this time. "War Elegy Wilson. My parents have mentioned you. Offhandedly, but mentioned you. Wade Wilson, known as Deadpool, and Bryna."

The thought of having her leg "fixed" and not having to return home was enticing, but at the same time not particularly appealing given the strange nature of the one offering to do so. If she had any real reason to trust him, perhaps. He seemed rather less than aggressive now that he had identified that she was not the target he sought, but he did not seem any less dangerous.

Thinking about it caused her leg to twitch involuntarily, and War actually looked startled for a moment as she peered down at it. It had moved that time. Sort of. She rolled onto her side in the air and peered more closely at the wound. Tendrils of fibers from the torn bits of muscle were seeking eachother out and slowly pulling the wound closed... and apparently mending. With Deadpool it happened so fast that you didn't really see the process in action, but for all that this was slower it was still happening rather quickly. "...I do not think fixing will be necessary, thank you." It was odd to hear such a bemused, almost childishly happy tone come from her mouth, for all that it was still rather muted in effect.

Steely shots of outrage ripped through their linked minds as his tongue was unexpectedly nabbed between the crimson paws of their victim. His Other was not amused with her boldness, tightening itself like a slimy noose against the limb that hadn't pulled away. Venom merely scrunched up his eyes and chuckled, grating his back molars together as though to remind himself that she hadn't exactly hurt him. "Not that she could." He rumbled aloud to himself while the symbiote mentally hissed its agreement.

"Father, hm?" They rasped their amusement, and Venom again began to pace to better take her in. "Heh! War... That's rather bold." He laughed, raking the earth with his claws. Of course, the mention of her parents envoked a much stronger reaction within the beast. "Ah! We remember them! Seems as though their lack of focus wasn't passed on through the bloodline!"

Though the moon was unneccessary to help him see, the monster clearly noted how she floated just like her mother--but that healing ability came from the merc with the mouth. "What a clever girl... We wonder how long that would keep you alive in a real fight." From his chuckle, it was apparent that he found its lack of speed to be more of a hindrance than anything. "Oh well! What we really want to know is why you think stalking around in the forest is a safe idea at night? You never know what might come stalking out... We'd hate for anything to happen!" Venom leered idly, allowing his tongue to tug a little on her still-captured paw.

War had skills, and she could regenerate to some degree. The extent of her regenerative powers would have to be explored... later. Simply because she could fight did not mean she was stupid enough to step into a battle with this creature. This Venom was larger, stronger, and possibly faster than she. At least on foot. There might yet come a point when she might try to exact some form of vengeance for his poorly thought out attack, but it would not be now, and certainly not in close combat. No... she was no fool.

"Lack of focus? My father, yes. My mother... not so much. She can be very focused, when she chooses to be, it is just difficult to discern through her random chatter and childish demeanor. Though the lack of focus didn't skip all of my siblings, I'm afraid." Ah yes. Each of the BrynPool children had their own... quirks, to say the least.

"There are six of us, if you were wondering. Two litters. I'm from the second. Our parents named us after the Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Well, all except for one of my elder sisters that was given into the care of my mother's brother." She flicked her tails idly as she contemplated giving him the names of her siblings. They were guessable, for the most part. And she did not feel inclined to give out further information unless asked for it. Venom did not seem to be a threat to her family but it simply was not in War's nature to pass out too much information at once.

War examined her own leg further as Venom examined her, seemingly unconcerned with the tug on her paw. "I shall have to explore the limits of this ability before I dare to rely on it in a fight. But I will not deny it was lax of me to be so off-guard. Simply because I am not worried by the local fauna and have yet to make any enemies does not rule out the possibility of attack." She glanced down at him then. "You have made that quite clear." Experience was the best teacher, as they say.
