I just started a dwarf hunter and I have been looking all over the internet for information on combat pets, but nothing I've found so far has been really all that helpful.
What type of pet should I go for once I reach level 10? I know cats are pretty good, but just about every hunter I've seen has one and I want something different. >>;;... I don't need a fancy, epic pet (yet, maybe when I level up a lot more), but I just don't want a cat.
Are ravagers any good?

http://petopia.brashendeavors.net/Favorite pet site right there. For my few, low-level hunters, I've favored cats & scorpians. Tried out a ravager when TBC first came out - they are good dps pets, but for solo-ing, they're not that great at keeping aggro.

I've liked my crab, serpent, and spiders. I found those to hold aggro better than a cat, and for some reason they died less too. My BF liked his boar and the little dash they do. lol His boar was tiny and when it dashed and get all red, it's cute. XD 4laugh

I've leveled two hunters before, both times I mainly used a cat. Cats have high DPS, especially if you spec Beast Mastery. I used a boar in the beginning while leveing and noticed there was not much difference between the two, tanking wise.
The boar obviously had more heath, but since they made Mend Pet LOL-EASY, considering its a HoT now and no longer channeling, its not really a subject to be concerned with.
