Muslim metal. Listen to the radio link.

This is an interesting story. There is another article somewhere about the popularity if heavy metal in Israel. Its interesting that metal is helping bridge the gap between between the Jews and the Muslims, though not in any significant way. While its not surprising that both groups can relate to it, but its still surprising nonetheless.

WTF?!!! LMAO!

Well music of any kind is forbidden in Islam. With the exception of vocals and a few kinds of drums. That along with the fact that the lyrics actually stand for Satan. XD I don't know, it's not really Metal and Islam, it's just people listening to it, just like you guys are and I am. (:

I don't think they should put the word Islam in it for publicity or otherwise.

Are you Muslim BTW? Just asking.

I'm not muslim. Music is generally acceptable in most muslim societies; however, the extreme fundamentalist types do forbid music. They are not a good representation of Islam in general, just the most vocal and most covered.

Actually, there are a number of Islamic bands

A lot of the metal heads you interviewed felt their music did not prevent them from being good Muslims. How do they reconcile the two?

Music: Islamic Viewpoint

Absolutely. I spoke with a young musician who said he’d go to Juma prayers on Friday and then go play black metal for four hours.

Here in the West, Black Metal -the specific musical style, scales, sounds of drum and kinds of lyrics - is theoretically known as satanic metal. In the US and in Scandinavia where it started, it had satanic lyrics, anti-religious, anti-Christian.

It sounds the same but the content of lyrics is very different.
In the Middle East there are very few bands that sing satanic lyrics. The majority who say they play black metal, mean they are playing in the style of black metal. So they aren’t singing satanic lyrics, but musically if you listened to a satanic track without the vocals, the sound, the guitars and arrangement would be similar.

It sounds the same but the content of lyrics is very different.

Its really doesn't matter what a few Muslims say. It's what the truth is and what's written down in The Qur'an.

I feel the same way, but Allah's (God's) orders cannot be changed. I'm still gonna play the guitar but I'll quit when I'm old and stuff.

And?... Just cause a few people believe different doesn't make it acceptable, right? Same goes for the rest of what you said.

I think you should consult elder and more experienced Muslims rather than young ones for a better insight. Try someone with an unbiased viewpoint.

Oh I just remembered. My uncle said something like this, that Metal or any other form of music leads to bad things like drugs, stuff that are against the law and things that mislead you from God.
Plus I also had another thought quite a long long time after he said that. I'm saying this from personal experience. Metal gives you a strong feeling a different boost spiritual force, something that was supposed to only be achieved through prayer. So getting a stronger feeling from something else means you're already deviating from your religion. I still haven't confirmed this BTW.

As far as the "Jewish" part of this topic is concerned, that's nothing too incredibly shocking to me, being that I'm a fan of Orphaned Land--a name any fan of metal from the Middle East should know.

well I don't know about muslims, jews, or any other religious person, but I do not really listen to 'satanic' black metal either.lyrical content is rather important to me and I just cannot relate to the need to epitomize some christian antithesis

I don't really care what is written in the koran, nor do I care what you think is acceptable. I think it is very cool that metal is having a far reaching influence across many faiths. I find nothing wrong with that. If you do, then it is your problem alone.

Well I just explained that to you just so you don't think it's acceptable.
It's more of a personal choice.
