Nope, I have a stylist. I'd probably go crazy cutting my own hair. My hair grows very fast too.. So I often donate to locks of love. Last time I donated about 16-17" and my hair is still to my shoulders. I've donated 3 times already.

Recently (meaning several months ago) I cut my hair trying to be all fancy with layers. The front is really nice but the back of my head is just flat and straight.

I couldn't seem to get any back hair cut not matter how I tried. I probably needed to cut more than I did now that I'm thinking of it. Very frustrating so I gave up.

It's ok, I work so much so my hair is in a ponytail practically all the time. I'm letting it grow long again.

I got my hair cut a couple months ago. it was supposed to look cute but came out looking horrible. It is now just above my ears in the front and a little longer on the sides, then almost to my shoulders in the back. I can't put it behind my ears at all and it drives me crazy.

It used to be down past my shoulders but I had a hard time taking care of it. That's why I got it cut, although I was thinking of doing it myself. I had my mom cut my hair once, but I can't get her to do it again, and I don't know why... whee

I cut my own hair, but I go to a salon to get it done every once in a while when it needs to be evened out or cut drastically.

I have terrbile perception of a straight line, can't even cut my asain-style banggs straight across. Tried many times, but this last one , . .I just leave it to my mom now. Can't even draw a straight line *shakes head*

Can't even draw a straight line

Hint, in drawing a straight line, don't look at the line, look where you are going to end. Alas that don't help with cutting your hair, but masking tape does, put a long piece slightly lower that you want your bangs, trim UNDER the tape, never above it. You should have a pretty straight bangs now.
Also make sure your scissors or VERY sharp.

My hair doesn't get cut. I think it's been trimmed three times in my whole life, and that was all before I was ten.

I cut my mother's hair for her (just simple stuff, my mother's hair is too wild to do anything more then even it out and change the length), and when my brother lived with us my mother cut his hair. Nobody in my family unit goes to salons or anything. 'Tis very cheap.

Okay, a question for all of you with hair that grows to your butt....

HOW? I've tried to grow mine that long my entire Life and haven't managed it. It gets stopped at the bottom of the bra-line and that's as good as it gets.

I went to a friend of mine about 5 months ago and gave up-chopped it to my ears. I loved it at first, but now...oh, my hair! I wants it back...seriously. I don't really go to fancy places for my hair-a straight line trim can be done by any of my friends. I've only dyed it once, in addition to the random temporary pink stripe.

When I'd had my hair short for about it a month it neeeeeeeded to be trimmed to look good, but I just ruffled it and made it grow past that point. I really ought to go to a hair person more.

It's mostly a mix of good nutrition, heredity, and dumb luck. But that's just my opinion. You might want to check out some long hair communities to see what they think about it how to get long hair.

dancing-in-the-streets, it sounds like you're just unlucky. After a certain amount of time, a hair follicle will take a break. How often this happens decides how long your hair will grow if left to do it's own thing. My mother is like you, even if she doesn't have it cut for years it won't grow further then her bra line.
Everybody's hair grows differently. Mine grows really slowly, but for a very long time, which is why it goes down past my butt. Some people have hair that grows quickly and for a long time (I know an Indian lady who's hair grows to the length mind is in about four years, whereas it's taken me a decade.) Some people's hair just doesn't grow that long.

You can try and help it with nutrition, like taking flax seed oil, but it may never happen.

I've never been able to get my hair longer than my bra line either... I'm still trying though! It's just past my shoulders now.

I don't think I've been to a salon or anything for nearly a year now. My family generally doesn't pay for haircuts. I shave my dad's head for him, since the military says it's gotta be really short. Mum will either shave her own every once in a while, or get the slightly longer hair permed. The last time I had my hair to my bra, the layer underneath kept rubbing against my clothes and matted really quickly, so instead of going, "Hey, I'll just bring a brush to school and give it an extra TLC between classes," I lopped it all off. =/

And now I'm growing it back, hopefully longer than my bra. :] I could probably use a split end trim. I'll just ask dad one day, since mum's eyes are starting to go (hence me shaving my dad's head now).
