Well, its still a long ways off but, I'm looking for advice about things that would help one get into leadership...ie Section leader or Captian... I know you write a resume and you have an interview... but I'm not sure as to what you should put in the resume or mention in the interview...any help?

Well I'm not sure about the whole resume/interview thing cause I only had to fill out a questionare. But on it I put honest answers. Something good would be if you didn't miss any practices and if you help out alot even when you don't have to. They look at stuff like that to. Just try to stay completely honest.

Be honest. It helps to say why you want to be section leader (or whatever). Hopefully, you're not trying out so you can enjoy the position of power, you should be trying out to help the freshmen, the section, whatever. I'm not sure about your resume though.

Say honestly why you want to be a section leader, hopefully because you want to help the band be better and want to help others and do the right thing.
Make sure you're enthusastic about it and keep a positive attitude about it.
if you do these things, and anything else you can think of that could help ya, then it shouldn't be a problem.
Even if you can't think of anything to say, just put a bit of effort in it, as long as it's not something way off (like wanting to torture the newcomers) or it's just one sentence, you'll be paid attention to.
Good luck, from a section leader! 3nodding
