Why do humans as a species think that we have power over everything? We think that we caused the whole in the O-zone layer, that because Mars is warming up, we should stop using gas, and that because the water levels are rising, it's our fault.
Is it just me, or do we seem a bit big-headed? So what if one start 30-trillion light years away blew up, it's not our fault, is it?

What do you guys think?

I think it's great that everybody believes we're the cause of all this destruction.
If we take the responsibility to try and save what might not even be our fault, then humanity as a whole will grow better.
If we convince ourselves that what we've done is terrible, then we will go to great lengths to make it better (after all, who likes a guilty conscience?) and therefor make the world a better place for the next generation.

I say: Bring on the guilt trips, Al Gore! It's better we save the planet than feel sorry when it falls apart, even if it's not from our own doing.

as natural history has shown, the world works in perfect order and balance, but humans interfer with that order so as to make ourselves comfortable in all parts of the world. we destroy rainforests, pollute the air and water, etc, all for our own gain. without us, nature would be much better off. so it is good that at least some people are willing to fix it.

Humans consider themselves superior above all else because we think we are always going to be one step ahead of everything else. But just watch, eventually, it's all going to rebound and we'll all receive one hell of a b***h slap.

Well, as far as I know the world would heat up even if we did NOT do anything about the o-zone layer, but we kinda speeded up the process. So we should take responsebility (responsebelity... i dunno how you spell it... damn... embarrassing...)
Responsibility is one side of the coin, the other is power. In fact we have the power to change our world. Animals change theirselves to fit to their environment. We change the environment so it fits to us. If this is good or bad... well I think it is both at the same time. Nevertheless it makes us unique. In one or the other way^^
I personally like to slap all these "humans are sooooo evil"-sayers. We are not. We are good and evil and everyone can decide what he wants to be. I think being good is much harder and if you say, all humans are evil than their work is worth nothing. So why try being good if nobody notices?

I think the important thing is to learn that we do make mistakes and we have the duty to get rid of them. But the possibility to do this makes us special.

I know that humans are doing alot of horrible stuff the the environment and whatever. But ever since science was available, we've blamed ourselves for everything. Recently, a scientist had seen that the tempurtures on Mars were rising. Somebody has blamed the human race for this. Why? How are we the cause? This is why I think we are so pig-headed. Or are we actually causing it?

Saying we screwed Mars over is kinda...out there for a lack of better words at the moment. We don't even live there, and all the little rovers are solar-powered that take photos and video footage there. I know we've destroyed a load on our own planet, but Mars? Come on, that's a bit far-fetched...

Where there is YING there is YANG. The worlds are constantly shifting and that is on every level. Because we do what we do the worlds will keep on shifting, at what rate depends on the input and output of Ying and Yang. We have already had an ICE AGE and that is one example. When this AGE left us we have the beauty that it left behind in its shift.
Just remember This Universe is ever shifting and as it shifts so will we with the ending to be admired and pondered on.

Don't worry we are not in charge ....No one is, it's just this balance of eternity and all that it holds

It's a little far fetched.
Things fluxuate
Some years it colder, Some years its hotter, Some years it Rainy, and some we have droughts, its the natrual balance of things.

Well, let's see...

I personally feel that as a whole, people have sort of lost their way. I mean, not to get on a soapbox or anything, but America kind of made the jackass their champion. In our quest to get our piece of the pie, we shun others, do we not?

Look at the amount of divorces we have each year. Most couples can't even stay faithful anymore. There used to be a such thing as staying together for the family's sake. (Or at least the kids, right? :/) But again, in our quest for individual fortune, we disregard the effect we have on others. But in some cases, that IS the price for progress.

And as far as the environment, how much of this is our fault is sort of a grey area. However, no matter how much of it is actually our fault, we MUST take measures to correct it. I mean, there is a point where things fall out of the category of cool or fun and fall into the category of NECESSARY. This is all I'm saying.
