Alright. This is hard to explain. Does anyone else get a sense of space, color, emotion or texture when they listen to music, and really relax into it? Mostly what I get is a sense of space, and density, though I do sometimes get movement.

See, I've done this forever, and I was thinking I could have slight synesthesia ( http://web.mit.edu/synesthesia/www/synesthesia.html ) It seems to be more common in musicians, at least to me.

EDIT: This link will be helpful to you guys http://www.mixsig.net/

Wow.

So it actually has a NAME.

I feel emotions with some music, some color, and, most often, texture. My senior choir's texture was soft... velvety, silky. Really nice. The lead singer from Nightwish has a very smooth voice, and it feels like pleasantly cool water. Amy Lee's voice feels slimy sometimes, and like broken glass at others (depends on the song). >.<

Amy Lee's voice isnt really supposed to be calming lol she's a rock star not a Perfect voice person lol well anyway sometimes when i listen to my voice teacher's voice I just want to float around the room she has a opera kind of voice (very high eek ) but very relaxing

Well, of course! (Has anyone heard of Music Therapy? Part of that is tied into this.)

I almost always feel emotion and color.
Some songs have locked in to doing something or being somewhere- Like for Gaia, I always start humming Combat Baby by Metric. And another song makes me think of travelling through the woods (I think it's a DCtalk or The Ws song.) Other songs, when I hear them I absentmindedly start doing something or thinking like I NEED to be doing that specific something. (EDIT- usually it has nothing to do with the lyrics- just the beat or tune)

I don't usually feel texture or space, though.

My choir teacher's voice sounds like watery honey. 3nodding 3nodding

Well, yeah, she's a rock star... but there are other female rock stars whose voices don't feel like broken glass. o.o;

It's weird though, most of the sensations I get aren't outside myself, they seem to be a sense of space within my mind. And density and emotion.

I'm glad it's not just me, I've never really mentioned it to other people I just kind of enjoy the ride.
