Oscar Wilde is my favorite Victorian writer. His poetry and fairytales are wonderful and he can be quoted endlessly. It's just such a shame that an intolerant culture made him out to be a criminal.

I've only read his essay on suffering, De Profundis, but that was very, very good. I'd recommend it for anyone who's been through hard times, or just anyone in general, really. I've been meaning to read more by him. I've had The Picture of Dorian Gray in my reading pile for a while now, I must get to that soon.

Truly one of the cleverist humorists of all times, in my opinion. I LOVE the play The Importance of Being Earnest, though as a MOVIE I prefer the old version with Michael Redgraves to that of Colin Firth. But Either way, he was brilliant. A true wit.
