I'm not too sure if this is the right place to post this, but, here goes:

A few days ago(about 2 or 3), I began experiencing some inflammation on my vaginal area. It was ichy and red.
I'm not quite sure how this happened.
I've never had sex, never had contact with guys, I wash it daily, I wash my hands before I masturbate, and I'm really careful with myself...
But now it's really painful and is a little more swollen. I've also been experiencing a whitish discharge.

Should I be really worried about this? I'm afraid of going to my mom... She always assumes the worst and I've never been to a gynecologist before. Would it be best if I did?

I have no idea what I did and how it happened, or what it is for that matter. Is it an infection?

Yes, you need to visit an ob-gyn to find out what is going on as it sounds like you could have an infection. There are a variety of infections that women can get even if we're not sexually active.

If you can drive or get a very reliable ride, then you don't need to go with your mother. An ob-gyn at a clinic such as Family Planning or Planned Parenthood would be able to see you even if you are underage.

Sounds like a yeast infection. You get those regardless of wether you are sexually active or not. Yeast infections are caused by many things. You will want to see a doctor about it because since it would be your first yeast infection they want to make sure it isnt something else just in case. But either way, you need to go, dont let it go in hopes that it will go away because yeast infections do turn into worse things if untreated for a prolonged period of time. My sister in law just got over a PID recently and they said they thought it might be a yeast infection that was untreated.

If it is a yeast infection, your mother will not assume anything. She is a women and knows that you do not have to have sex to have a yeast infection lol.

Thank you guys so much for your help.

I ended up giving a hard swallow and asking my mom about it, and she agrees that its a yeast infection.
We went to Walgreens ASAP and bought cream, and my mom is trying to get an appointment soon.
(I didn't think it would hurt so bad... God was I wrong. I laid down for like 30 minutes crying my eyes out after applying the medication.)

Honestly, I originally thought that a yeast infection was only sexual transmitted. Thank you so much for informing me that its not.

That's great that you gathered the courage to talk to your mom.

You should not be using the cream you bought though. You should never ever use over the counter yeast infection medication unless you were diagnosed with a yeast infection by a doctor. In fact, all the over the counter yeast infection medications I have ever seen had that printed in bold type right on the box.

The reason is that there are many different types of vaginal infections that all have very similar symptoms. If you use a cream to treat a type of infection that you don't even have, it could actually make the type of infection that you do have even worse.

So the safest thing to do would actually be to stop using the cream and tell your mom you need an appointment now, not later. If your general doctor is booked, you might have an easier time getting into a clinic.

If diagnosed with a yeast infection, then go ahead and use the cream.

Woah really? I'll definitely stop then.
The cream I got didn't say anything about that, actually. It said that if the infection worsens or continues without getting better, then discontinue use and make an appointment to see a doctor.

Thanks for the info. Not even my mom knew that and she's like a Beacon of knowledge.
I should be going to have it checked in possibly the next two days and I'll be sure to tell her about the cream and all.

I really don't want it to get any worse.
