An array of ripples were cast as a small, black paw broke the surface of the water. Jaydin sat on the western edge of the border in the Pacific territory, dipping her paw in and out of the narrowed river. She watched as her reflection would dissolve, only to reappear again. Sighing, her eyes drifted to the opposite bank with longing. It wasn't just the swift current of the water that had ceased her from crossing the territory's border. 'Take flight and live free!' A small opposing voice would whisper into her head. 'No,' she would tell herself. 'You cannot fly. Your place is in the Pacific by Mistress Shih's side.' Today the voice tried to be louder. 'Friends could be on the other side of that river... You could have fun...' 'No! I will take pride in what the Mistress taught me... I... I respect her too much to ever leave...' Her ears lowered. Though it was true that she admired Shih Ching above all else, she was begining to wonder if her childhood temptations of running around and playing free with others would never go away. Eyes widening at the thought of doubting Mistress Shih, the winged pup brought her head to her paws and shook lightly. "I should be shunned for such dishonor." her frail voice choked.

Aoi had been traveling everywhere, and only recently gotten home then had a long chat with Abel, of course said chat ended up most likely putting them on bad terms, at least he thought Abel held a slight dislike for him now. It was true he pushed the other, making him remember and say horrible things, but he refused to watch Abel shrink away right in front of him. His wings were folded neatly to his back, the bell around his neck ringing merrily with each step he took, but he soon stopped and listened as he heard a small voice saying something about shunned.

Flicking his ears he let green eyes search out for the source of the sadden voice, but he saw no one until a sudden movement caught his eyes and he saw the pup from before, they little winged one. Slowly he walked up to her; he was standing on the other side of the river so he stopped short of her for quite a bit. “Who should be shunned, why?” His voice was light and smooth sort of sound as he hardly spoke louder then need be. He sat down on the other side of the river looking across at the pup, his head tilted to the side in a questioning movement.

Jaydin's head shot up at the voice, remembering it was improper for a lady to have her head lowered in another's presence. She gazed around until coming upon a male otter sitting on the other side of the river. She remembered encountering him before. It was hard to forget the star-pelted angel with brilliant emerald eyes. The first time they met, they had been talking until he seemed to run into some sort of confilct with an elder. The small pup blushed at the otter's question, realizing that he must have overheard her. She tried not to glance down at her paws, for that would be disrespectful. "I should be shunned... for doubting my faith in my magisterial advisor for a moment over something... foolish..." Jaydin responded cooly with an etiquette behavior, though she could not prevent her halo from drooping in her shame.

( Sorry for lateness, but I slept all yesterday night. ^^; )

Aoi looked at the pup, his ears tilting back ever slightly as she explained just who should be shunned and why. "If your shunned for a stupid reason as that, I will simply go with you then. Can't let a pup wonder off alone, nor will I belong to a group of otters who are that closed minded." He snorted slightly his wings shifting on his back before he stretched, lazily rolling his shoulder forward. "At any rate, I don't listen to anyone at all, well maybe Father." He hummed in thought briefly stilling as he tried to think about it. "Yes most likely him, but so far everyone else I just have a silent motion toward them, though the otter Jack is, interesting for the lack of words." Ok, so he was rambling a bit, but he didn't want to see a sad pup, they should be happy.

"Tell me what you are not believing in, maybe I could help?" He doubted it, if it were something she no longer believed in, he doubted that he himself believed in it either, he did very little things now. He looked back at her and waited calmly, not wanting to rush her into saying something she might not want to say.

(It's alright ^^)

"I said I should be shunned..." she murmured before glancing down at her mirror reflection in the river. "But that doesn't matter. I can't shun myself and leave my Mistress' side..." She looked up back at the angelic standing on the other side of the river. "They're not closed minded..." she attempted to squeak softly in protest. The pup folded her wings tightly to her side and listened to the male ramble. Though she tried to remain composed, she couldn't help but giggle a bit.

Her head tilted as he offered his help. "Well," she lowered her eyes, unsure of herself. "It's myself I don't believe in..." she admitted. "As an orphan, I admired the owner of this territory from the first day I met her. I'd had never seen such a powerful and respected otter as herself. While she gives me hope and pride, I make it my responsibility to serve her the best I can. I try to put more pride in myself by giving up childish things like playing around with mini otters... I've never made any friends my age..." She sighed, returning to dipping her paw in the water. "Because I should be acting more mature than that."

He huffed and set his ears back at the word, should. Really how could she think that about herself? “Why do you call her that is she not just another otter?” He had not been home in a long time, not like it was really home, well yet. “Oh, so you say yet I see very different if there comes a time when a pup says she should be shunned just because she has trouble flying.” He himself had not really flown till months ago, he taught himself by jumping from high rocks. Not that smartest of ways, but to avoid getting hurt he learned to fly in days. He had a few scars, but none that showed unless he moved his fur away from the area, and then they were just flat silver lines.

Green eyes watched the pup fidget about as she explained reasons for things, all of which sounded flat to him. “Oh yes, would want to make friends and have a sort of family.” He snorted to himself and flopped to his side lazily looking at the other with a bitter sort of amusement. “I never had parents either, but I didn’t let anyone really take me up.” He did not mention Abel talking to him here and there, but he never did really help he was too busy and left on his own as much as Aoi did himself now. “There is nothing wrong with acting or age, if you don’t you will wind up like me and that’s something that will really get you shunned.” Not that he had been yet, but well. “See I sort of flip between being mature, to being a child, not very healthy since at times it can seem a little mad.” He laughed slightly and rolled back to his stomach, mud slightly staining his white fur in places.

“Come on and cheer up a bit, nothing can be as bad as what you’re saying. You have time to makes friends, and who cares if you never fly, your wings will still be there and your halo will shine as much as any angelic’s.” He smiled gently at her, his eyes softening a bit as he did. “Things are never the same, who knows maybe tomorrow you will fly, or maybe you might get your first friend, or both!” He purred happily, fluffing his wings slightly on his back. “I doubt she will toss you out just because of some problem, you have done nothing wrong, it’s your body that’s just not ready to fly yet, not you.” He stood up again and stretched, even his toes curling into the river bank as his wings opened and stretched as well. “No one ever said life was fair, bad guys win all the time, just keep going pup.” Ah, he sounded old.
It was a pretty bad day for him when he felt like he was old, he wasn’t old yet at all.

The pup's eyes remained on the water's surface as the older angelic responded. "She isn't just another otter. The Mistress is a wise and powerful pirate lord. And as any pup knows, superiors should be given respect." She sat quietly, listening to the male's logic. Her eyes widened a bit as he metioned a pup who couldn't fly. Had he known about her...? Or was it just his way of an example? Either way, Jaydin couldn't help but feel a shiver run down her spine as she glanced over her blue-tipped wings.

She listened intently to the other. She didn't really have a need for family since she was introduced to the Pacific territory. And though it was true she had made companions with a couple of mini otters, she had dismissed them from her presence in belief they could be of more use with other otters than playing with her.
The male seemed to have a similar predicament of acting childish and mature, all the while living on his own."But if you have never been taken in by another, how could you understand what it would be like if you abandoned them...?" There was more hint of confusment in her voice than there was anger. She didn't want to be angry with the otter who was only trying to help, but she still felt frustrated.

"If a fledgling does not learn to fly, won't it fall from the nest and die...? And if an angel falls, won't it lose it's halo?" His smile felt reassuring as Jaydin truly wanted to believe him. She sighed, laying down at the edge of the river bank before lowering her head in her paws. "Maybe I'm just paranoid in losing faith within myself..." she murmured. She finally pulled herself into meeting the male's green gaze once more. "For an otter so young, your words are so wise..."

Aoi snorted, finding this funny in his own way. “To me she is, she breaths, bleeds, and will one day die just like the rest of us. Why is she any better?” He finished his stretched an rolled his shoulders, his whole body language spoke of a calm and confident otter, not that he was any of those two things. “Yes well, I was never a pup unlike you; I woke from my clam already adult. So no, I see no reason to respect someone I do not know myself.” A bit of a bitter thought, but he was already pretty much over the fact. He wondered why this pup was so sullen and sad, like she already thought about all the bad things. He thought back to the otters and remembered a bitter female who to him seemed a bit scary; she did not seem like one that would be good to take care of a pup.

“I don’t know, really I think I would rather not find out, simply not abandon anyone ever.” A childish notion of things but he would try to do that, he would rather not see anyone he liked be hurt by him, if he did then he would be little worth to the world. His own thoughts on the world was twisted, he had a hard time seeing things in gray, only in black and white and so because of that he sometimes just pushed whole things aside simply by being able to judge them. He hoped caring for someone would not soon fall into that place. “No, its parents or someone else would be there to catch it and put it back. No, it would simply be watched over until it could fly back home.” He smiled softly again, once more knowing his judgment on things was childish and a little impossible to believe, but then it was himself saying it.

“Don’t worry, everyone has a bad day here or there, I have had plenty. I almost starved to death once because I refused to let someone help me get food.” His wings made it so he could not swim, so he had trouble getting fish, he had not known how to clean his wings to water proof them back then, and he did not want to ask for help. “I am not young, I am an adult, and my words are not wise by any means, I just have done a lot of things and thought too much with my spare time.” He shrugged to himself, refusing to think he was wise like that. Either he was old, or just knowledgeable, either way he didn’t see any good coming from it.

Jaydin's ears fell back, slightly irritated. Obviously they both had their different veiws, and neither of them was going to change the other. Composing herself, she sat up, brushing her pelt of any residue. Her icy blue gaze was sharp and defiant now, her mind cleared of any self-pity and narrowed down to self-pride. "Perhaps you will feel ashamed one day if you ever lose faith in a mentor who you've comed to admire and respect deeply. When you come to place trust in someone, one of your biggest regrets will be doubting that trust." She spoke confidently. "Until you do, I'm afraid we will be at an impass on the topic. And I certainly will not lower myself to arguing." There was no anger or spite in the pup's voice, only a matter-of-fact tone.
She wasn't the same depressed pup as she was a moment ago. Something triggered in her mind to cause the change of mood around her.

Her tail flicked back and forth as she listened to the other's reasoning. She wouldn't allow her mind to drift and be dissorted. Jaydin had to open her thoughts to all aspects and sides of the problem. "But if the bird is born alone, without parents, it must learn to fly before it hits the ground, or hope for someone else to save it. In a way, I had been saved right before I stepped from the nest, though the danger of falling is still open to me. Nonetheless, as a baby bird grows, it must set standards for itself based on what it was taught. Someday it will have to know how to fly to survive." A curious glint played in the small angelic's eyes and she smiled expectantly. "Correct?"

The pup hummed softly. "Sometimes you have to learn to accept help from others. That way you can be taught so that you will be able to do it again on your own. I suppose in some way, you helped me today..." Her tail swept over her paws in thought. "No one really grows old. Your true age is your state of mind. I could stay a pup forever if I wanted to, but I have to grow past that."

( I thought it better to make that new thread, so you won't need to play her as a pup any longer. ^^ )

Aoi rolled his eyes before carefully standing on his back legs and placing his right paws over his heart and the back of his left arm over his forehead. “Oh but I may not be wounded from the venomous words of a pup. Hart but thane own thoughts do cut quick and sharp to thane own heart.” He wobbled taking a step back before flopping down on his back wings opening and folding over him like a veil. For a minute he stayed like that before he laughed suddenly and snorted standing back up on all four of his paws. “Pretty little angel, you do have a sharp tongue on you, maybe you match that other female very well indeed.” He twisted those words, so she could think them bad or good whatever she wanted.

Aoi looked at her, his eyes growing a bit colder as the topic turned in a way he did not want. “Just because you can fly, it doesn’t mean it will stop you from falling, trust me I am always falling wings or not.” His ears twisted back against his head and he had a large urge just too simply grow at the pup, but he had no will to hurt a pup no matter how much adult like they seemed to be. “What of the normal otters and the demons, hm? Do you see them with wings and flying how is it they keep from falling?” His tail swished and thumped the ground near him with a little more force than needed.

“Yes well I am glad I helped you, but there are many who do not accept help and find their lives go normally. I have learned everything I have now by finding it my own way, why should I start asking for help now, I hate adults, they ruin everything.” His muscles tightened in agitation and his wings ruffled unhappily before finally he growled and bared sharp teeth. “Yes well, I hope you won’t regret this pup, growing up means leaving the nest able to fly or not. I hope that other otter will catch you as you so trust her to.” He flicked his tail again, angry that he was angry and that the conversation brought back some old pains. “I’ll see you later pup.” He gave himself a shake before he opened his wings and jumped, a few strokes of them and he was flying off to deal with his thoughts.

((That's fine :3))

Jaydin tilted her head as the male put on a theatrical display. She stood as he fell over, and watched for a moment. She purred softly in amusment as the male stood once more. "I'm not venemous, just merely trying to get my point accross." she stated.

She studied him a she seemed to have brought up a sore topic, or what he thought was a sore topic anyway. "You obviously don't understand what I'm trying to say. Everything I've said has been metephorical. Whether I can fly or not has nothing to do with my message. Wings don't make me any more or less of an otter. Everyone needs someone to save them at some point, whether it's an otter, predator, demon, or angel." She responded softly, voice never faltering once.

Jaydin watched as the angelic departed, flicking her ear at the term 'pup'. Sighing, she closed her eyes and shook her head. "You adults are too quick to judge." She murmured to herself as she turned to head back home. Metephorically speaking, it had been another otter, Renkai, who caught her before she fell from her nest. After that, it was Mistress Shih who guided her. Pshysically, she didn't know how to fly, but mentally she was begining to understand how. "Someday someone will catch you, sir. Then you'll turly know how to fly."
