This is pretty embarrassing, so please do not make fun of me.

I have a small patch of dark, short hairs under each arm, and it is making it hard to do anything in public that requires raising my arm. I don't like wearing tank tops anymore either.

So here is what I need to know:

-Does it work better to shave or use a cream like Nair or Veet?
-Will a razor cut my armpits even if I shave gently?
-Does Nair or Veet damage the skin?
-How long do the hair removing creams last?
-How long does shaving last?

Note: I just shave my legs, so all of my questions are for my armpits.

Pretty much everyone over the age of 15 has a patch of dark hair under their arms. It's nothing to be embarrassed about. Some people remove the hair, other people do not.

Whether shaving or hair removing cream is better is a matter of preference. Just like your legs, yes, a razor can cut your armpit. That's one reason that some people don't like shaving. Also, stubble can start to come in rather quickly, so many people shave every day.

With creams, the hair tends to grow back a bit slower, and there's no chance of getting cut. However, the creams often smell extremely bad, sometimes they leave a greasy feel and bad smell even when washed off, and sometimes they don't remove every single hair. Creams don't damage most people's skin, but some people may have reactions to it if they have sensitive skin or skin allergies. Creams are not meant for sensitive skin such as around the eye or genitals.

So you can try both and see what you like better. Neither one should do you any serious harm, so the worst that will happen is a small cut, stubble, or a rash. But if you don't want to risk it, leave it alone. I've tried shaving and creams in the past but decided they just weren't worth it in my opinion, so I have stayed all natural for the past few years.

Thank you! That helped a lot.

I tried using Veet a few years ago (I don't remember which line of cream exactly) and wasn't impressed with it. It didn't work very well.

Usually I just shave, but that's me personally. I've seen commercials for new types of waxing creams that look like they hurt less, and I've seen Veet-like creams where you leave the cream on for a few minutes and then wipe/wash it off.

It's really just a matter of personal preference. I shave my armpits and shave my legs, usually every other day or so. If I want smooth legs for a special event or for some reason, I might shave a couple of days in a row.

There is nothing to be embarrased about =)
Shaving works better for me , I tried hair removal crap and
it basically made my skin irritated and red . I wouldnt use it again ,
ive never cut my armpits yet while shaving ( my legs thats a different story ) Shaving lasts 2 or 3 days . Im not sure how long veet lasts .

I've tried the cream and shaving my armpits, I personally prefer shaving them. The hair grows in a bit faster, but I just find shaving easier. I haven't cut myself once yet mrgreen

I do how ever use the cream for my legs, I haven't shaved my legs once. But I might start shaving my legs because it seems like the little bit of a tan I did have on my legs, after I used the cream my legs were white. I think the cream may have bleached my skin.
