I wasn't sure how much I would like the original story that started it all, but to my surprise and delight the novel was a great read. It has that playful adventure that kind of reminds me of The Scarlet Pimpernel series. Although there are dark moments, of course. True, that McCulley was a pulp writer, but is that always such a bad thing?
Has anyone else read this book?
You know, this is another example where I find myself reading fanfiction before the original novels because I finished reading Isabel Allende's Zorro right before starting McCulley's novel.
