Hiragana is one of the three Japanese alphabets, with katakana and kanji.

That's why translation sites are awesome. I want to do the Rosetta Stone thing though. One day I hope to write an e-mail to Issei-kun (if he'd ever freaking write back) entirely in Japanese just to see what he says.

Oh he's got internet access all right. No, it was one of those "I'll pledge my undying love for you and then go back to my own country and only talk to you when I feel like it" kind of things. I've heard from him maybe twice since he left over a year ago.
