So... us as Christians, on judgment day, are we punished for our sins? Or does Jesus' death and resurrection let us not be "judged"

1 Corinthians 3:11-15
For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,

each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work.

If any man's work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward.

If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

a common interpretation of this is that everything that we have done will be tested with fire - our good deeds will be preserved and out bad deeds will be burned away. After being tested by the fire, the good that is left over is judged for a reward.

I don't think we are punished because Jesus died to forgive our sins and as long as we accept his gift of forgiveness we will be saved on judgement day.

Jesus freak/believer or not, you get judged. Even if there is a judgment day, being Christian won't make the whole being judged thing null and void.

Jesus...

There seem to be passages in the Bible that seem to say that we are excused from judgment, and others that don't... So thus I am confused XD

(not a guild member...but I want to say something because my bible class discussed this one.)

You are not judged if you are a believer. Well not in the condemning way. Your works for Christ are brought before Him and you are rewarded due to what you have done.
When you were saved your sins were wiped clean. Every single last one. When He forgives us He, “remembers our sins no more" (Jeremiah 31:34)

Why would He judge us for that which He has already forgiven?

Yes, works for Christ make sure you are not judged. Yes. Right.
SO that means all the uber freaks and gay haters and that Phelps guy's church will go to heaven for being complete asshats and condemning people for being who they are? How is that Christ's work? Eh?

We ALL get judged. If such a thing exists.

I didn't say what they did is Christ's work, I didn't even say that the work kept us from judgment. I was just helping with a perception.

What protects us from judgment is salvation.

What they do is a blight upon our religion, and in life I believe you are punished for those things (you reap what you sow). I would never say what they do is right. No day will I ever say that they are right for their hate speech.
But when sin is forgiven and you and God have dealt with that, than why would he judge you?

(This comes from my reading of the Bible, and I will look more into the subject to see what is said.)

Because even if you buy that some Jew died on a cross to save all humanity its not permanent from baptism on. I mean what if you die and no confess or ask for forgiveness or repent? Does that still mean you are exempt from judgment. And I thought the silly little propaganda type book of Revelation said the living and the dead get judged. So, what about all the dead from the era when Catholicism reigned? All that? They get judged so why not you living, breathing Jesus worshipers? Of course I have a few new thoughts on who Jesus really died for so if anyone wants to know that, I am open to PMs or IMs.

A perfect explanation. So, after we choose to give our lives to Christ, He forgives us of all our sins and gives us new lives. It is now our responsibility to carry out His mission, which He gives us power and ability to do, if we let Him. When we (believers) go to heaven, we will be judged on how we used the abilities God gave us to carry out His will. Our sins will be exposed, but quickly burned away and forgotten. But, we should still do the best we can to live holy lives (which is one reason Jesus came).
