i kind of think that maybe the Timelords will come back, because Davros & some Daleks did, so what's to stop the Timelords from also escaping the war?
although that would mean moar Daleks D:

I want the Master back.
And I think both male & female companions would be good, preferably those that don't fancy the Doctor. And also not from the present. It would be nice if they were from the past, or the future. Or pehaps an alien of some kind.

Random breaking into pop songs! (Sorry, just had to, after I figured out why that guy in the teaser for the christmas special looked familiar. He's the smarmy landlord from Blackpool. I liked that mini-series. DT with candy floss! All I could to keep myself from licking my TV, it was.)

I don't think that David will leave. I'm pretty sure he'll stay at least as long story-wise as Tom Baker if not year-wise. He does need another male companion, though. I mean, his last *long-term* male companion was Turlough. Jack and Mickey only had, what 5 episodes being a technical companion between them, right? Need a dedicated male companion, one that wont make googly-eyes. I'm usually all for googly-eyes but that just brings out Angsty!Doctor too much. We need more Silly!Doctor.

Eirwyn
The Doctor will continue to lick &/or taste everything in sight to analyze it. smile

BWA-HA-HA!
*stops cracking up to post*
Man, all you fans on this forum are so YOUNG! (except for you, eirwyn xp ) All these predictions based on only 4 years of episodes . . . It's so funny, because back in the day you could go YEARS without seeing so much as an eyestalk of the Daleks. I don't think they should be gone forever ('cause they're like the Sith to his Jedi), but it would be nice if they could lie low for, say, five or ten years, and then come back when we least expect it (Will that actually happen? Uh, no . . .)
And way back before dirt it was FORBIDDEN for the Doctor to have a romance with a companion, 'cause that was like, living in sin, and the censors would go nuts. Does that mean he didn't? No, it just means that "shipping" was left up to the imaginations of the fans. And there wasn't all thist out-in-the-open angstyness.
So, what do I want to see in upcoming seasons?
First, my name under "written by" in the credits biggrin . Hey, it might not be impossible. I've written Star Wars tie-in stuff for Lucasfilm before.
Second, more stand-alone weird stuff, and new monsters!
Third, I don't necessarily want River Song to become a companion, or even her relationship with the Doctor to unfold on-screen, but I'd like to at least see an occasional allusion to the fact that somewhere he has a sort of "home" he can go to when he's cold and wet and hungry and needs a hot cuppa and a backrub. Like him licking something and saying, "pretty good, but my wife makes it better." Or "Like my tie? The kids picked it out." It would totally boggle the minds of the fans to have hints that yes, he does have someone somewhere who loves him and knows his Deep and Inscrutable, Ineffable, Effable Name--but we're all left guessing.
Oh, and while we're on the subject (what subject? Geek points if you know, and no fair asking Eirwyn!), I agree--Cat-Person companion. Maybe one of the Brannigan kittens.

I don't see David leaving any time soon... I mean the whole reason next year's series is going to be all weird 4 specials is because of David's role in Hamlet...
Personally I would love to see Jenny as a companion because well it was cute seeing the doctor all happy for a change...
I agree no more daleks for a while... I think this is likely anyways because stephen moffat is taking over and so far all his episodes have had new monsters and aliens... nothing from the classic series at all...
the one thing i do NOT want to see is river song as a companion... I do not like her at all.... and an open relationship on screen would turn doctor who into something it has never been and should never be...

I'm up for a male companion mrgreen ... although the fanfics.... Gay adgenda is not the word... rolleyes

It's difficult to predict how Moffat will produce from how Moffat writes and what Moffat likes.

For example, he's no particular interest in 'arcs' and his own preferences are against recurring baddies. But he's pretty much duty-bound to do the former in order to keep the current winning format ticking along and would be a very, very brave man if he didn't bring back someone or something from yesteryear considering how much tabloid publicity that always brings the show.

The only things I think we can be certain Moffat-Who will contain are -

- A renewed sense that Doctor Who is, first and foremost, a children's programme, since that's something Steven is so passionate about.

- Less stories that just use time travel as a bus to get the characters to the era in which the adventure will occur, and more stories that focus on the weird logic games that arise from time travel itself. He's convinced that that's the big imaginative draw of the show.

- More gay references. He takes some pride in having brought them to the forefront in The Empty Child and having done the best one in Time Crash and seems good and eager to piss off those international fans who expect the show to straighten up with Davies gone.

Heh, well I'm sure looking forward to the next season. ^^
I don't think the Daleks will show up, just because they've been used so much.. rolleyes
However, if he pulled out some plausible theories for how other less-famous Classic Series monsters were around, or landed in a time/place where they were, that would be cool. ^^

What ever was with that Raston Warrior Robot in The 5 Docs, anyways? He shows up for that one special but I've never seen him apart from that. neutral

He was invented for The Five Doctors at the last minute.

The very last minute.

So much so that the paint on the costume (one of the androids from Earthshock recoloured in silver) was being frantically dried with hairdryers even as the actor was inside it and ready to start filming.
