Shadows faded away, leaving her exposed to the bright light of the sun. Squinting her eyes she bared her teeth at the unwanted glare, fangs glistening with menace at something she couldn't target. White-bared black ears pressed back against her pitch fur in distaste. She disliked the sunlight when it was this bright. A creature of the shadows and murky forest, the white bone-marked black female was uncomfortable in the heat of the full sun.

A soft growl rumbled low in her throat as he slunk forward, her pure white tails held low, twisting and swaying behind her like glistening spirits as she padded forwards. The sirene call of clean water the only lure that could bring her out into the harsh light of the midday sun.

Black fur rippled as she slunk to the river's edge, muzzle, with its white markings that resembled bone and fang dipping to draw the cool liquid up. Sweet and pure it sated the dreadful thirst that she had carried with her on this, the latest leg of her journey. Forgetting herself as she lapped eagerly at the water she let her pale eyes close against the sunlight, leaving her vulnerable and exposed for a brief time. Unaware of any that might approach the startlingly marked she-wolf.

From up in the tree's there was a viloent screach and within seconds of that bodies began to drop from the trees. Again the leaves tussled back and forth with more deadly sounds coming from behind. Eventually there was a gasp and a few more dead birds fell to the ground. Tollan sat there momentarily preening himself. He hadn't ment to kill any of the birds for food. He just enjoyed the blood that seamed to coat his creamy brown wings and his golden crown. It was as if the bird had felt godly as he dragged his beak threw the tips of his wings. Gods needed blood to live- and after following Quetzal the red eyed deamon had desided he must have been a god.

Quetzal could hear the death from above him- he wasn't very surprized at the situation since he had taught the bird about bloodlust. It almost made the large wolf giddy himself thinking about the hot red liquid that was probally corsing off Tollan's feathers. He made a smirk then a laugh as he looked up. "You bird- save some death for me." Almost in responce a few carcasses fell to his paws- prehaps bloodier then the rest.

"Me sir give you death sir- you be god to Tollan sir." He clicked his beak then dove onto the skull that rested on his masters brow. "Me sir- see something in distance you like sir." He jittered from foot to foot with over excitement. "Me sir see female sir- you sir like this female; she strong and evil like you!" Again the bird kept dancing until he'd nearly fell off with the glee. "You sir should bring death to her as gift." He didn't mean for him to kill her- more for him to bring the corspe of another male to her paws. Asserting his strength and his ability to defend. All females liked that. "Tollan do good sir?" He squeaked and flew off above."

The large male nodded interested in the birds words. "Yes Tollan did very good. I shall reward Tollan with death later...Now if you wouldn't mind my dear friend- take me to this female you have found." And with that Tollan took wing with Quetzal following close behind.

Her coat pricked, causing her to jerk her head up, icy blue eyes snapping open to reveal the deathly glare behind. Lip raised in a silent snarl she swung her head back and forth, scanning the immediate area. All appeared calm, and yet the creeping touch of death ruffled through her coat like a lover's caress.

Lowering her muzzle once more she didn't drink, but instead stayed crouched, dark coat like a beacon against the pale sand under her paws and the blazing sun glinting off her white markings, giving them the appearance of being lit from within as they glowed in the light. Her pale eyes flickered this way and that, seeking the source of the new death she felt in the air.

Maybe if she was lucky, there would be something useful left behind that she could .. borrow.

He flew threw the air caressing the leaves that fluttered about him as if they were lovers. "Female sir-" He circled a patch infront of them and when Tollan had landed on the branch high above the black wolfess he cawed again. "Female- Tollan did good sir- Tollan did good for master..."

Quetzal had no problem keeping up with the bird. His own nostrils quivering starting to take in the lovely scent of the other infront of him. Ah females-, it was really his only weakness. His paws grew wobbly as he thought about them. There lovely bodies, the way they walked, the way they smelled. It was almost too much for the king as he neared the other. Then Tollan landed and he could finally see her body. Dark like death and scary like a possible queen. Though he had no intentions of having a woman rank with him at the moment. She would have to earn her place as the breeding queen and impress upon Quetzal if she wanted the thrown next to him. Only those with exceptional strength like him would be accepted as the one to hold his royal children.

Yes the male did have his flings with women- spreding his seed far and wide. But he'd only consider the best to raise an air after him. The others would only be subservient as the females he had mated with prior never seamed to impress upon him the same bloodthirsty qualities he was looking for. Not to mention he never let any of the males live in any of those litters. He knew it was creul but he couldn't risk the chance of one of his sons overthrowing him- expecially from females that were such trash in there DNA.

But if the queen he choose had a son- he'd be the only to live. Quetzal would teach him his own leadership qualities; and in due time his son would rule as he has. The only problem was- finding a queen worthy of carring such honored genes.

"Yes Tollan did very well..."

He moved forwards with a swagger in his step. Only moving as a king would move towards his subjects. He wanted to see how this female would react to his presence.

Nothing.. there was nothing close by, but she was almost sure she could hear something, or rather, someone just beyond in the edge of the forest. A shadow fall across the sand close by and she glanced up, pale eyes narrowed against the glare of the sun.

A skull-wearing bird? And... what was it spouting on about? The dark ruff of fur at her neck lifted as she bared her fangs at the bird. Pale eyes narrowing threateningly, paws shifting, claws raking the sand under her crouched form. Maybe she could eat the bird before it truly irritated her? Would anyone mind? She would be doing them a favour anyway...

Before she could consider how to put her idea into action she froze, feeling a stranger draw near. Pale eyes swung to where the large male appeared out of the forest. The feathers at his head caught her gaze first, then they dropped to the skull atop his brow. That made her smile, a slow lifting of her top lip in a rather sinister smirk. Was he one like her? A practitioner of the dark arts? He certainly strode about like one that possessed power and knew how to use it. But then, there were many forms of power.

She studied the male as he strode towards her, the feathers bobbing brightly over the bleached skull. She would have to ask where he got that skull.. He moved with a swaggering confidence. Not the power from her calling then? His movements possessed something other than simple ability... pride, yes. The weight of responsibility? Maybe. He was an alpha, that much a blind wolf would have been able to sense.

Her dark bone-marked head lifted, slim body drawing to her full height. Rather than being cowed by the size and confidence of the stranger before her, she seemed almost.. amused, in a dark and slightly nerve-tingling way if the strange light in her pale eyes was anything to go by.
