Leon stretched muscles he had pressed hard to get to the beach, not quite sure it was worth it. Just a bunch of sand and water. Curling his tail in pleasure at such a good stretch, a rumbling growl coming from his throat. His gold-brown eyes closed momentariliy as he flopped onto one side, exhausted from both the pace he'd forced himself to keep on the way here and the wonderful stretch he'd just had.
The large male licked a dirty-looking paw absently, shaking his muzzle at the grit of sand in his mouth. He suddenly realized he might not be alone on this beach, and his black and brown ears perked up, eyes narrowing as he scanned his surroundings, laying as he was in the sand.

Ichtaca jogged quickly along the edge of the surf, her feet getting a nice bath of salt water every time the tide came in. In her mouth was what she considered a good catch, some....kind...of fish that she caught. Pfft, the dark female couldn't care less what the fish was called. It was a fish. You ate it. Why did they have names anyway?
She had come a long way. That morning it had been thick, lush greenery surrounding her, with squishy moss under her feet. Now it was sand and surf, sand dunes and little crabs scurrying this way and that. Ah, the beach was a lovely place - Ichtaca made the journey here often, but almost never in a single day. What an accomplishment!
Or...something along those lines.
She caught sight of...something, in the sand, in the distance. Her sharp eyes squinted to try and make out the form, but to no avail. Ah, well....she wasn't going to slow down. As long as it didn't take her fish, she didn't care what it was.

Leon spotted a dark grey figure moving along the edge of the water and flicked one large black and brown ear. It appeared to be another wolf..and from the lack of the bulk that Leon carried, it had to be a female. With a toothy grin he rolled to his feet, padding slowly towards the dark female.
Something..was in her maw. Food? Leon's stomach grumbled lowly and he watched her approach, lowing his head slightly in respect as she came closer. Would it would be easier to snatch her fish from her, or convince her to teach him how to fish? Stealing the female’s fish would definitely put Leon on her bad side, and he was reluctant to get on any female’s bad side. Maybe a little more effort at first would mean less effort in the end.
"Hello there," Leon called, giving a quick shake to his fur to dislodge any excess sand from his mostly dark fur.

Oh, so it was a male. How fun! Ichtaca moved to a gradual stop as he slowly moved t'wards her, eying the way he lowered his head and that entertaining little grin. Ah, a gentleman...at least at first glance. She had learned early on never to judge anything or anyone - especially males - soley on appearance. He'd get a chance to prove himself soon enough.
Paranoid? Maybe a little.
The female went to speak, but....well, there was a fish in the way. She decided to sit, tails swishing in the sand, and place the fish on the ground. A paw made its way to rest on the fish just in case he wasn't as nice as he was acting. Her red eyes glanced over him quickly, almost blatantly. It was refreshing to finally run into another, especially one that clearly wasn't female. Hey, her kind could be annoying under the right conditions...
"Hello, stranger," she said, silky voice rising over the sound of the waves just loud enough for him to hear. "Enjoying the beach?"

"Quite. I haven't gotten the hang of catching fish yet though. Would you mind giving me a little lesson?" Leon figured being a gentleman couldn't hurt his chances of getting a fish one way or the other. Being rude could.
His tails flicked back and forth out of curiousity, and he moved closer, eying the fish.
"Honestly, I've never had one before. Too much of a hassle to catch. And that water." His dark golden eyes moved over the surface of the sea, distrust clear in his gaze. Leon hadn't ever really been a wolf for water at all, except for drinking. And maybe small puddles for rolling in, but those were mostly mud. Sand confused him somewhat.

"Hmmm....I suppose I could, sicne you asked nicely."
Honestly, that was probably the last thing she expected him to say. Didn't really know why - fish in mouth, hungry male, male ask how to get fish. Made sense now. Ichtaca stood again, moving her protective paw from her own fish; it would be fine for a little while sitting here, since the weather wasn't too hot. She had time to give a quick lesson or two.
"You don't like water?" she asked, cocking her head as she trotted t'wards the edge of the surf. Well, that could make things interesting. How was she to teach if he didn't like water? Not that you needed to be in the water, but...it did help. Just a little. She spun around on her heels to face him, smiling a little. The amusement factor in this had the potential of being pretty high, even if he was only a stranger. That could make it all the beter!
"Ok, well...step one. Get in the water."
