Angel_Brown Black_Ronin so guys do you think Black Life is different than other races? hell, yeah! i don't think there's necessarily anything 'special' or whatever, but there are definitely things that set Black Life apart from that of lighter skin tones. that's gonna sound really racist, and i hope no one takes it that way - it's not how it was meant. but seriously, even though it's hard to be just about anyone, unless your family has money coming out of their asses (and yeah, it really does get that much easier), it's hard for Black people in different ways. tru its even different for black people of different skin tones.

VeryHungry_Pie-raider Constance14 Black_Ronin so guys do you think Black Life is different than other races? Black poverty differs from any other poverty... how do I know? I've lived it. have you lived nonblack poverty Black poverty has differences than any other poverty. It's as simple as that. Russian poverty, African poverty, it is different from Black american poverty. What Russian will be shot merely because they are wearing a gang color, we may never know what it is to work and fall victim in diamond mines, or face the struggles a poor Russian will face, and our struggle differs slightly from the next man. So if a black american lives in a "poor" lifestyle, it will be different than the Russian or African man. One will be poorer than the next, but not only that, they don't worry about all the same things. However, this doesn't just go towards the "poor" black lifestyle.

So if a black american lives in a "poor" lifestyle, it will be different than the Russian or African man. One will be poorer than the next, but not only that, they don't worry about all the same things. However, this doesn't just go towards the "poor" black lifestyle. [This reminds me of a scene from Girlfriends: Toni was bitching at Todd because she's struggling with the truth--that her husbnad is "broke." Toni: "...(something about not wanting to be poor in L.A.). I grew up poor..! ...L.A.-poor is worse than Fresno-poor. In L.A., you're poor if you wear round-toe shoes in a pointy-toe season! ...In Fresno, even if you're rich, you're still in Fresno and that ain't much!!"
This isn't the exact word-for-word quote, but you get the point, right? That "poor" is different depending on where you are and your perception of "poor." So, according to an American, being poor in a third world country in Africa may seem worse than being poor in developed Russia. But to the individual people, those two perceptions of poor can't compare.
I don't like the insinuation that blacks are so much worse off than whites that blacks would want to be "white poor" because it's "better" than being "black poor." (Not that this is specifically what Constance was saying.)
You think in the projects, there weren't any white people?? You think times were better for them just because they were white?? Wrong. confused It's not the color of the skin that makes the difference.
We all face the same problems, like Constance pointed out; not necessarily the same situations.] [EDIT: Wow...haven't seen most of these members in a LONG time... -_-; ]
