I've had a browse through the topic titles and I can't actually see one for this new game. If anyone knows better, post a link in this topic and I'll lock this one and bump the old one smile

Sega's newsletter arrived in my inbox this morning with a link to this site:
http://www.sega.co.uk/sonicchronicles/uk/index.php

They've noticed I'm in the UK, which is good, since the e-mail came from Sega of America, but I digress.

Anyhow, it's the official site for the upcoming DS outing for Sonic and his motley crew, in their first ever role playing game. There's another new character (sigh), but at least they're acknowledging that Tails is Sonic's most loyal friend.

The official site has screenshots, trailers, concept art, character info and a chance to play mini-games with a (presumably) Flash-animated stylus.

Anyhow, DS owners may wish to check it out...

This will be the best Sonic game of the last decade, unless something has gone horribly wrong somewhere.
Bioware are developing it, and they don't make bad games.

There is an older topic for this, saying "Sonic RPG", but there's been so much media released since then I'd suggest keeping this one instead of reviving that.

I checked out the site last night; a pretty neat little thing they got set-up. At the very least, you can get a wallpaper. : P

I'm really looking forward to Chronicles, though. Considering it's a turn-based RPG, one wouldn't have to worry about a glitchy camera or unwieldy controls causing frequent deaths.

...not to mention noone's ever died of pitfalls in the genre, either. XP (in gameplay, I mean)

Has an official release date been announced? All the site says is Fall...

I think the site design was interesting and I got a lovely wallpaper for my computer should I want to change it from the superbright colors of my Speed Racer wallpaper now.

So, tomorrow's the big day! (well, for us in the US, at least....you lucky folks on the other side of the pond are already enjoying it : P)

Definitely looking forward to this; it sounds like the general response has been pretty good too, which hasn't been seen in a LONG time.

Too bad there's no midnight release for it at Gamestop; I'd forgo a few more hours of sleep for this. ^^;

Tycho at Penny Arcade was raving about looking forward to this. I don't think I've heard him sound so enthusiastic in a while.

I have no DS, so the point is somewhat moot for me smile

Well, to be honest with you I'm frustrated at the game. I can't win, and I'm only on Chapter One! I'm terrible at strategy-based RPGs. xd sweatdrop gonk

The battle system is definitely something one has to get used to. I'm still slightly aggravated at how bad the party's accuracy is. I'm not sure if there's items that can boost that or what, but you really have to make good use of those POW attacks.

The story's pretty good, though, so far. There's some priceless character interactions in there, too.

Review consensus (from the reliable sites, at least) seems to be that this is good rather than great. Make of that what you will.

I'd probably pick it up myself, but I seem to be broke presently.

I'm stuck on the puzzle-based switch in chapter four and it frustrates me so, but other than that, the storyline's not bad... They even used ROBOTNIK in the script! A joyous day for old-school fans.
