"Oh, that? That's probably just a little mishap that someone ran across during an ether experiment." Blitz evaded. "Too bad it happened in the middle of the great tree... That's gonna cause tons of paperwork for the bureacrats."
That was when Blitz realized that he would inevitably be linked to this when they questioned his mentor. The best courses of action at this point were either to quickly deliver his parcel, which for safety's reason, he had kept in a floating area of compressed space around him, or to go back to the tree and try to rectify the situation as much as he could. After all, it wasn't his fault that someone else flew completely off the handle.
Then again, being connected to an explosion and a large fire in the great tree that was currently releasing enough smoke to noticeably dim the daylight wasn't something he would enjoy at all.

"A... tree?" Suddenly the ground was screaming at her, and her eyes went wide and angry. Everything dimmed now as she began towards it, it was on fire! She had to hurry!! The small mandragora, with her items tucked under each arm, took off running towards the smoke now, her face a mask of cold anger and concentration as she dodged the people in the crowds to make her way towards it.
She had practically forgotten Blitz already, her tiny feet pattering on the cobblestone street.
Shanara could almost feel the pain now, the small plant's in the city lamenting the great tree's anguish, the small chloroplast-filled creature found her sight misting as tears of pain felt began to form in her large, bug-like eyes.
The tree was in sight now, the large, charred hole in it, flames still spilling out. That fueled her anger and sped her onwards.

It was pretty much his fault, of course. I mean, it wasn't Blitz who had cast all those fireballs, but if he hadn't blown up the guy's lab years ago, then he wouldn't be nearly as mad. Blitz supposed that his running away from the rubble immediately afterwards didn't really help his case. Here he was, inadvertedly causing the Great Tree to be on fire, and now, because of his lack of discretion, an important political figure was heading straight towards the mess, though it was of this last fact that he was blissfully ignorant.
Really, it was probably for the best, since he would be severely agitated if he had this to his name, as well, since he had just lost sight of her in the crowd of onlookers--onlookers who were currently blocking the frantic efforts of the guard to rush to the scene, water spells at their fingertips. Blitz was the only one close enough to do anything at this point, though, and if nothing was done soon, the damage to the tree would be irreparable.
And so, Blitz extracted himself from the crowd, an annoying one that had been jostling him, preventing him from concentrating, and focused on his palms. After a few moments, they glowed with a dim red light, and the fires had fallen to nothing but embers.
The tree still looks like crap, but it's not in danger of destroying the forest environment, at least. Blitz thought, as he put on some heavy gloves, covering the residual light focused on his hands. He'd been able to account for every aspect of the fire, except the light it gave off, and he didn't want anyone to mistake his intentions for darker, more malicious ones.

((Sorry for my lack of postage, but this is my first free moment on Spring Break, and here is a post to celebrate))
Fenrys came to with a start, coughing and hacking and in general, just violently writhing where he lay on the ground. The first words he managed to spit out were "Ack pfth. Sh--Ugh. Kears dear, you really need to make that stuff more pleas--Oh." It was at this point that he realized that the one wielding the charm on him was not, in fact, his late wife Kearsyn (who was incidentally also Mithran), whom created several of the charms to protect her husband who took quite a beating in battle, but in fact, the would-be stray Mithra that Fenrys had unceremoniously plucked from the streets earlier. Sitting up, he muttered to himself "I'd forgotten she mailed me one of those while on assignment in Bastok....I always said I wanted one to keep around the house..." He looked up at the massive pillar of flame that was erupting from his makeshift shielding and let out a disappointed sigh. The massive pyre, which was quite a spectacle, had managed to make contact with the skin of the Great Tree. While the old magical bark was not caught ablaze (it was far too ancient and tough for this), the fact was that the flame was still charring the sides of the tree, and with a tree as mystical as the Great Tree of Windurst, one normally wished to avoid all damage entirely.
Pushing himself to his feet with a groan, Fenrys looked down at Seth with a bit of a wince. "Well, this is quite a mess. We should probably go before I have politicians on my back making it impossible to leave the city. We'll need to hurry if we want to get you outfitted." and Fenrys began plodding off as if nothing at all had happened. Well, if "nothing" meant "lots of physical pain", which were roughly equivalent things to Fenrys.

Seth was about to apologize for all of this, as he really felt it was genuinely his fault. Whatever became of the enraged sorcerer was beyond him; he had been too focused upon reviving Fenrys from his comatose state.
He had no idea what he was babbling about, but the medallion still seemed in pristine condition, not at all damaged by its use. Well, maybe he could still pawn it off after all.
"After ya get me 'ou'fitt'd'." Seth said, in his usual non-graceful manner. "D'ya think I could take a trip to m'fence? I wan' pawn off som'o the stuff I found." He requested, all the while following Fenrys on whatever path he took him.
Seth was just happy to finally get away from being a slum pickpocket and perhaps going on to be something great. A burglar, perhaps, that all would know about but none would've ever seen.
Oh, that would mean he'd have to come up with a snazzy nickname too, but what would he call himself? Maybe they'd make up a snazzy name for him. Who knew? He then caught himself, realizing that he was taking things a tad fast. One step at a time, now.
He needed to follow Fenrys and not get distracted if he were to even become famous.

Tears streaming down her face at the pain she felt ripping through her from the tree, she dropped her things near the base of the great tree before kneeling in front of it, almost prostrate as she rested her hands on the now cold, but heavily damaged and charred wood.
Black eyes turned a bright vermillion green as she began caressing the tortured tree, Ether flowing through her as only a trained eye could see as she forced life back into the thing. It would surely die if it wasn't able to get nutrients from it's leaves to it's roots and vise versa. Connecting little bits of the photosynthetic transporting tubes that ran all the way through the tree, Outwardly, she hadn't done anything of real value, other than a huge ammount of ether she had just channeled. The tree looked as broken and horrid as it had just moments before, except the leaves looked greener, and didn't seem to be in danger of falling off.
The tree would live, given the time to let it heal it's self with the little help she gave it. Feeling suddenly exausted, Shanara just lay there, on her knees, bent foreward. Her leathery skin seemed to have a greyish-hue to it now, looking more like rough bark instead of the smooth it always appeared to be. Her greenish-black hair was now just black, and the flower on her head had died and fallen off.
But she had done it.. Blood and ashes, she was tired though!.
((Ah HA!! Pulled that one out of my a** xp ))

Blitz was standing in an open meadow. Grass covered the area, to the horizon, short, but tall enough to sway in the wind, and green, but with enough yellow to prevent the decay of depth perception. In the distance, the white peaks of mountains, made blue by the sky, seemed as immutable testaments to everlasting eternity. A gentle breeze carried a dove past Blitz, overhead.
The breeze brushed against Blitz, who felt fully at ease, apart from the tension and trials of his life. The roughness of his skin from working the forge was missing entirely, as were the angelic runes on his arm. The gritty texture of his unwashed hair seemed to dissolve into the air. His clothes, on the other hand, were ill-fitted, compared to what he usually wore. It felt as though these were real clothes, and not some thought-woven conjuration of his imagination--and as far as anything could be concerned, this was the case. They were plain, unassuming, and woven of rough, cheap fabric, but somehow comfortable, despite this. Instead of robes or layers of cloaks, it was a simple sleevless tunic and trousers, without even a pair of boots or gloves. The exposure made Blitz feel cold, and he shivered as the wind picked up.
"You should really wrap up." spoke the sultry voice of a woman, dripping with the tones of manipulation and deceit that were prolific in each syllable, but subtle enough to barely be noticeable except by the most calculated of negotiators. A soft, gentle, female right hand rested on Blitz's right shoulder, caressing it ever so tenderly. With this contact, waves of pleasure, physical and emotional, rushed through his body, intensified, and became searing pain, focused on his shoulder. Blitz shouted in agony, and grasped at the focus of the pain, before sharply being returned to reality.
He was quickly being caught up in the swarm of confused on-lookers. Somehow, he had dismissed the gloves that had been concealing the light in his hands, but the light was gone. The roughness of his skin, his soot-caked hair, and the angelic markings were still there, though, and each of these helped snap Blitz back into reality. Blitz had been an expert at manipulating the flow of ether, but cutting it off was something wholly other. In fact, he'd never even gotten to those lessons. His ability to shift clothing was actually a clever manipulation of air particles around him into more substantial forms, and moving matter like that was easy enough, but actually removing energy was something that he was not prepared to deal with.
However, now was not the time for inner speculation. Inexplicably, and against all instinct and reason, Blitz felt himself inexorably drawn towards the tree, towards the disaster that his very presence seemed to have triggered. He was guided by some impulse beyond his scope of perception, but importantly, he was guided, and strongly so.
Somewhere, someone was watching and smiling.

That smiling could have very well been Seth, who had passed by the man while he had been hallucinating.
And he was smiling because he had picked the man's pocket, and while the prize was a strange one indeed, it was still certainly interesting. One didn't get a vial of luminescent liquid every day. He'd ask Fenrys what it did and maybe tell him it was from a letter or something. But that would come later. He pocketed the fluid and caught up with Fenrys.
"Hey, uh." Seth asked, wanting to make conversation. "So, where're we goin', anyways?" He asked, knowing this certainly wasn't in the direction of his fence, to whom he still needed to pay a visit. He'd do so eventually...

Fenrys halted midstride as Seth caught up with him, having made a rather dire realization. Windurstian parliament was in session right now, and was even being addressed by Windursts' religious and political figurehead, the Star Sibyll. It dawned on him that he would probably look like something of a villain for simply walking away while all of Windurst's leadership died in a fire. He heaved a sight before turning to face Seth, instructing him.
"Go to my house, you should know how to get there. The door is still open. You'll find all sorts of weapons and armor sitting around in there. Take a couple thousand gil too. Try not to take anything you don't need. You'll be wanting to travel light. When I'm done making sure Windurstian government isn't disintegrating in a flash fire, I'll come get you and we'll get you a proper bow and some arrows, maybe a rope too. You never know when you might need rope."
Fenrys began bolting off, drawing his sword, and donning his helmet, but he had the presence of mind to offer Seth one more warning.
"Oh, and my moogle should be done with his errands around town! Don't mind him, he just takes care of the place while I'm gone, just tell him I sent you or show him something you stole from me or something!"

"Oh." Seth replied, blinking. "Alright." He nodded, smiling a cat's smile. He heard everything Fenrys had said; the moogle, how to respond to the moogle, and so forth.
As Fenrys turned and left, Seth did the same, heading towards Fenrys' house. He of course knew the way, since he had stolen things from it before. But, Seth also had business to do as well, elsewhere.
Returning to the slums in a roundabout way, the male Mithra entered a small, squat building, owned by a rather disgruntled, one-eyed Tarutaru. The small man wore grey attire, his hair of matching colour and rather messy, and his good eye a shimmering green. "Ach." The Tarutaru grunted. "What trouble have ye got yerself inta now?" He asked, standing behind the counter.
"None, really." Seth replied casually, sitting down in front of the small counter and sifting through his belongings. The medallion that revived Fenrys he would keep, but everything else he would pawn off. He recieved a large sum of gil for it, which had the Mithra rather satisfied.
"How'd ye come across all o'this?" The one-eye Tarutaru asked. "Did ye raid a bank?" He laughed.
"Nope. Raided th'post office." Seth said, smirking. "Betcha didn't 'spekt that, One-Eye." Seth smiled, referring to the name the Tarutaru went by as a fence.
"Nay, I didn't, although I can see yer honesty in yer eyes." One-Eye replied. "Well, ye've done yer biz'ness here, but how's yer 'quipment holdin' up?"
Seth shrugged. "M'lockpicks're okay, they work just fine. 'S'about all I got." Seth tilted his head. "I might not come back for awhile. A Paladin's takin' me on as a Treasure Hun'er or somethin'." Seth admitted.
The Tarutaru nodded. "'Ere." He rummaged around underneath the counter and produced a small club, made of stout oak with studs of a nonreflective metal upon it. "'Sa blackjack, 'n the best'n I got, too." One-Eye grunted. "Take it, it's yers. Won't de ye very good in ack'ual fightin', but if ye sneak up on someone, just pop 'em where da head meets da neck." One-Eye's eye sparkled. "Won't 'urt 'em too much, it'll just knock 'em oot cold." He grinned.
Seth took the blackjacket and tucked it behind him, where he kept his lockpicks. "Thank ya." Seth smiled.
"Ye be sure to come back 'ere for yer biz'ness, I wouldn't trust any'n else but ol' One-Eye." One-Eye laughed.
"I'll be sure to come back sometime." Seth smiled, standing up. "It is home..." Seth observed, nodding as he left.
"Fare ye well..." One-Eye smiled, being as kind as he always was to the Mithra.
"I'll see ya some other time, I guess." Seth said, walking out.
Now it was time to get to Fenrys' house. With more gil in his pocket, he wouldn't have to take any from Fenrys, but he still was at a lacking for anything besides his blackjack. The thought of actual combat had actually nauseated him, but he shook his head. He was a thief. He wouldn't fight.
After all, he wouldn't have to kill anybody... they'd just wake up later without anything in their homes. But at least they still had their lives.
Seth made his way to Fenrys' home and opened the door, looking around inside. "'Ello?" The Mithra called out. "I was tol' to expect a moogle... Fenrys sent me..."
