I came back after about 2 months of downtime with Final Fantasy XI, and I've come to notice.... the community seems kind of..
"lacking"
I mean, is it just me, or does it seem like even Lower Jeuno and Aht Urghan is kind of lacking people? It might be different on other servers.
But for Diabolos, I see a high lack of a lot of players, I mean, Aht Urghan once lagged me out a while back, but now, I can actually run around... lag free.
Is Final Fantasy XI community diminishing?

maybe.. dunno, but I joined a ls on my server.. and at around the same time 6 other people joined at the same time.. and there was a couple more, not sure if they were new or alts..
but it does seem like the game is top heavy, most people I meet are all 75 or have multiple 75 jobs.

Yea, I also noticed that the game seems to reach a point where if you're low level, you aren't really going to enjoy the game as much anymore, Valkurm Dunes (Hell) only has like... 1 party with a Power Leveler on very FEW occasions. It brings a tear to my eye remembering that so many n00bs once shouted for a raise there.. sad

Are you playing at peak times? Whitegate AH is STILL lag city.
Its a little less than it used to be because so many people spend so much time campaigning in the past. I recently checked and over a 3rd of everyone online was in the past >:3 WIthout WoTG most of those people would be browsing Jeuno AH with nothing better to do for sure xD
The ffxi community is still as fantastic as it ever was, but having a good linkshell is becoming increasingly important as random pickup shouts don't seem to result in any successes anymore <.<" I think this is because less people are spending time within the cities, and because the majority of players have capped skills/missions/etc.
Yes, the player base is becoming increasingly mature, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Go back a year or two and the only job you were likely to see soloing was beastmaster. Now with a lack of lower-level parties its become important for every job to be able to solo to some extent. This has resulted in fantastically original uses of subjobs, spells, prey and schemes. Having access to solo-friendly subjobs like /nin and /dnc and /bst and /whm has become important for everyone.
The game has changed, but it hasn't become anything less than it was before. Its simply evolving.

I would love to sit around all day but I would rater campaign and wait for a party then just wait for a party at Jeuno. I guess you can say sometimes getting a party is hard if it isn't around peak times ... campaign comes in handy when you need just that itty bitty exp to get to the next level ..and you just don't want to wait for a party when you can campaign for a mere hour so and leveling ^^. It is still as crowded as ever... just that it seems people are a lot more spread out now that campaign, besieged, and soloing is a little more possible to some extent

In my opinion the FFXI community is still going strong but honestly I have seem a large diminish in newer players coming into the game compared to when I started out 3 years ago.
Where there used to be many lower level players compared to higher levels, the tables have fluctuated to where the games flowing with high, end game players as opposed to lower level starters.

I agree that low lv isn't that fun anymore.
Most ppl are getting PLed and they are likely to avoid Valkurm Dunes at all cost on my server.
High lvs are still fun to play, but not the low lvs any more...
<<< Soloed until lv 20 on multiple jobs.
