HOPES, I wrote an essay fro my English Final two-three weeks ago. Of course, I didn't finish it probably becuase I was late and we have a set amount of time to take the stupid thing. As I knew I didn't have time to finish/start the final Conclusion paragraph I just turned it in as is and tried to forget about it.

) despite my teacher saying it was a "brilliant essay" that "would have been an A+ paper".

I was officially notified about that today. What sucks is that the "tutoring" for failing Finals if you fail them a second time (Day 1 of Summer School) is held in the afternoon, meaning that if I don't pass I can't have a job this summer. A job I PREPPED ALL YEAR for.

Ew....that is quite a shame. Yes I would be insanely irritated! So all you have to do is re-do that final? But you have to get tutoring for it...thats kind of silly. What type of summer school is this!? lol

Also what job have you prepped for? Thats a shame too sorry to hear -hugs-

I know you told me this over a PM but it still sucks, and the fact that your teacher said it was a brilliant essay and would have been an A+ paper doesn't make it any better.

I'm sure you'll pass the essay though this time. I guess the obvious thing to do is just write faster (without giving yourself hand cramps of course, it's not nice, I know first hand [no pun intended]). I remember having to write eight essays in three hours in one of my final school exams... not nice but I still (somehow) got it finished in time. Just have faith and be optimistic, you'll be fine. smile

Nah. The way it works is that:
"To graduate/pass on to the next grade, one needs to have at least a 70% on coursework and a 70% on the Final."
The thing that sucks is that in order to pass the English Final you have to have a 70% in ALL parts of the rubric. I got it back yesterday with my grades and I had a B+ in Topic Idea ("conclusion" was underlined on the section for an A), got the equivalent to a D+ in other schools (less than 70%, "conclusion" highlighted) but I had A+'s in everything else (Grammar and Conventions, Vocabulary, and Evidence). I have to go to the 1st Day of Summer School to take the Essay over, this time with a new prompt. If I "fail" that I'm stuck with the tutoring.

Oh, and I have the position of Community Action Project Leader at a youth leadership development non-profit's summer program. I also work there after school part-time. VERY fun job; great opportunity and other stuffs.

well, i'm sure you'll pass. You won't be late this time, will ya? So i'm sure you'll pass with flying colors. But the downside is a little freaky, at least it would be to me. ugh, i'd hate summer school, never had to deal with it a day in my life, never want my kids to either, ugh.
