One evening when they were getting ready to head home for the night, one last group of customers came up to the carts asking about some of the jewelry they had displayed. When Marina's father turned his back to get a necklace out to show them, one of the men stabbed him in the back. Half the group of men continued to beat and stab at her father has he fell to the ground. The other turned and started after here. Marina started to go for her father but he yelled for her to run, as she did she took off down the main streets, cutting through ally ways and side streets until she eventually lost the attackers. Late that night she made her way back to the cart, her father lay dead in the street and the cart was empty. Marina could do nothing but sob, as she wandered aimlessly about the streets of the city.
