The following introductory guide is an attempt to explain role-playing at its best, hopefully aiding new role-players by setting forth general guidelines and ideas for individual and social gameplay.

What distinguishes you from the mass of other Gaiaonline players? Your character. Not whether you play a good or evil character, but whether your character can actually qualify as having a unique personality.

If you aim to just get the coolest title and become the strongest roleplayer, then Cascadia is not the right environment for you. Solid roleplayers of Cascaida are those who create characters with real personalities, reacting as the character would, not as the person behind the character would. When playing your character, always remember the background and development you have created thus far. It is vitally important to keep your facts straight, acting as consistent and believable as possible.

You do not need a glittering, in-depth character concept to begin role-playing well. It is important that your goals are to become a member of the community as best as your character can. This doesn't mean that you have to be jumping on the bandwagon. Playing a character who hunts alone and is only occasionally seen is just as welcome in the community as a character who seeks to banish all evil from the world. You don't have to be the best role-player in the community, either. The versatility of role-playing is such that everyone can easily adapt to accomodate any player's needs.

Hopefully this comes as some help to those wanting to role-play. This guide will be updated or enlarged as seen fit. So what are you waiting for? Come on and create a character, give Cascadia a try the way it was meant to be role-played.
