History:
Jan comes from the World Weekly, a metaphoric, theoretical world/plane of existence with an intensely odd population. Namely, a good number of its denizens are actually figments of imagination, or Daydreams. They are the Really Great Ideas people have such a tendency to come up with and never end up writing about, and when they're finally abandoned they make their way to the World. No one's quite sure how, that's just the way it is.
Anyway, Jan's the son of one of these Daydreams, one who managed to establish himself fairly well in a feudal community in the World and even developed a little beyond his original definitions. His mother, however, was neither a natural denizen of the World nor a Daydream. She was an anamoly (though not the first of her kind) known as a Mary Sue - some postulate that Mary Sues are magnified Figments, others that they are strange hybrids of Figments and their creators. [Figment is a derogatory term for a new Daydream.] Again, no one's really sure. In any case, one particular Mary Sue and one particular Daydream came to 'love each other very much' as it might be explained to a child.
Jan grew up a fairly typical child of the World and only stumbled into his duties as Janitor of the Universe when the previous Janitor, while taking care of a rather nasty aftermath involving some romance novelist's two week fling of a Figment and an old fashioned 2D villain, was struck down in the line of action. In a sense. In any case, he was deemed by the Powers What Is to be no longer fit for duty. Unfortunately, the problem hadn't really been totally cleaned up yet and they needed a replacement, fast. Jan just happened to be checking the local help-wanted ads and just happened not to really be taking the former Janitor seriously when he said 'life-time dedication to the Powers What Is'.
Oops.
He's not really embittered, not at all - if anything, he gets a kick out of the whole Janitor business. But sometimes it is a strain only allowing oneself to get involved after everything goes to pot...
And then there's the problem with... you know... apparently being half a cosmic entity? Or something like that. Because on recent assignment he got... well... he.... uh... sorta screwed up a little bit. And now he's stuck. Like... really stuck on this Gaia place in a universe he's not even sure is really his with a girl who... mirrors his story eerily well, who bears his name, his eyes, his... not his fashion sense, but it's still creepy >> And yeah. Stuck. He's not sure if he's still even the Janitor anymore, but he refuses to forsake the title until forced.

History: Meph just wandered into Audi's life one day, a young wretch who decided
that her young ward, Aiden, was some delectable little thing to hit on.
Audi wasn't happy, but something about the anthro drew her to him, and she decided, given his sob story about his mother and father turning him out of the house or...something, she decided to take him on. There was something special about Mephistopheles, something to do with that name.
She's not quite sure whether his parents read too much Faust or if it has any real significance.
As it turns out - and neither Audi nor his new.... 'landlady' know this - Meph really is special. That is, he really is a demon, and has been one for hundreds upon hundreds of years. This also has something to do with his absolute phobias of committed relationships. The bunny was once mortal, and - hard to believe, but true - quite a family man. He had a wife, a lot of kids, many brothers and sisters, loved his mother and father and had a wide group of friends. Not a bit of the Meph that exists today - that isn't his real name, and hell if he's telling anyone what it once was - he was a content man, happy and satisified, and although not a saint, a good person.
That was, until he was accused of a crime he didn't commit, and everyone he ever knew turned their backs on him. Driven temporarily insane by what he perceived as a terrible betrayal, Mephistopheles killed them all. Part of his punishment was becoming a demon. He spends as much time 'humanside' as he possibly can.
Recent days have treated the bunny no better than his sob story, unfortunately. And NO he's NOT talking about it OKAY THANKS. Just. Just. ******** demons. ******** them all. ******** ******** all demons and ******** KARASU. *simmer*

History: Cedric was the product of a fair-skinned king and his dark-skinned queen. When he was only 13, his father found a new, paler bride and decided that he was going to divorce his former wife. They only had one child, the prince, though with his new wife, the king has had many children. He doesn't like them.
In fact, Cedric has problems really liking people. People generally get on his nerves. A lot. Girls moreso than boys, emotional people moreso than those who are sedated. He's a gentleman at heart, though sometimes he doesn't quite act like one. He still honors the rules of engagment and all that, will only EVER fight with a sword (fists are unmanly, and magic is to be used only when both duelers know how to use it). He likes both of the sexes, but finds boys generally more sedate.
He fell in love with a farmer's son, a beautiful boy with black ringlets and stunning blue eyes. Who, several months later, died in an attempt to become the prince's bodyguard, all so that he could be closer to the man he loved.
Cedric hasn't quite forgiven him for dying.
In recent events, he's fallen in love with a beautiful angel. However, that particular angel comes with some baggage - a vampire by the name of Buuk. After grappling with the vampire, and then falling into an odd love/hate relationship with him, things have finally come to a head, with Cedric ATTEMPTING (and failing) to kill Buuk after the vampire came very close to draining Vasu dry. The events concerning this - the threat of losing both his wings and Vasu, and attempting to kill someone who he does indeed feel something for besides hate - have left the angel changed, though how much and for how long isn't known. He's much less quick to anger, unless his mate and children or his "family" (Ari or Darin) are threatened. He's much more accepting, and less arrogant. However, that does not mean that he suddenly likes what he once didn't. He just has a different reaction to it. Rather than anger and sarcasm, he'll simply go quiet if something annoys him. In general, he's a great deal more quiet and a little more docile than before.

History: Alain's an interesting young man. He's been poor most of his life, which probably prompts his neverending need to look and feel rich. Given that, it's really not that much a suprise that he's fallen on...not quite legal means of procuring his money. Though he does prefer piracy to anything else, he's not below lightening a few purses if he can. If at all possible, he prefers to leave all that to Anatole, fancying himself more the brains of the operation. That's not to say that he's not smart, he just sometimes has slight...delusions of grandeur.
The fox is a bit stuck up at times - especially for someone of his station - but if you catch his attention and don't manage to rub him the wrong way, he can be fairly pleasant.

History: Tobias is actually fairly average. I mean, he's intellegent enough, attractive enough, rich enough. But nothing spectacular. A nice guy if he wants to be, but he can also be a spectacular a*****e. He was raised in relative wealth, went to college, got a paying job, all that.
Of course, the most important part of his history has nothing to do with himself, but with a certain little kitten also staying at the Apartments. Soyeah. When Ari first came out to his parents, he was 16. His mother persuaded his father through lots of pleading not to throw the boy out on his a** until he was at least 18. That night, depressed and scared, Ari wandered away from home and ended up sitting across the street from a bar - a bar owned by one of Tobias' good friends. The older man narrowly saved Ari from killing himself, though shortly before he had made a bet with his friends that he couldn't sleep with the younger boy and still be able to dump him. They accused him of going soft.
He was in fact able to do just that - breaking Ari's fragile heart in the process - but it was terribly hard for him and he's still very much hung up on the boy. He managed to convince Ari to come back to him for a while, but ended up cheating on him. Now he seeks to get his boyfriend back, because deep down he really doesn't want Ari to be anyone else's.
