I was walking through the corridors of my mind one evening.
Chasing a thought, running from a maelstrom of memories.
Musing at the medicinal value of love. After turning corner after corner,
I stumbled upon an epiphany. Love is as a venom.
It’s fangs rip at the flesh of your heart. Yet the only anti-venom for love is
but more love. And it seems we could spend our entire life in this vicious
cycle of love and pain, laughing through tears.
The world is in an abusive relationship with love.
No matter how much it hurts us, we keep coming back to it. We feel
we need love to be complete. And when we’re replete, love leaves us again.
We’ll act surprised, and cry as if it hurts worse than the last time,
and the time before and before. It does. But we’ll be back.
We’ll crawl back to love and beg for a few more seconds.
A few more seconds of happiness or peace, pleasures we pay for
with a lifetime of misery. Thus we slowly bleed our souls of
life and mirth, telling ourselves that the next one will be the one.
And we’ll blindly dive back in.
But who knows, maybe she is...
