I would hardly say that England is a land of sophistication. Take a look at chavs? They speak dreadful English, can't stop robbing, get their girlfriends pregnant when they are 13 and spend a life on benefits! Thank god there are a lot of English folk who have pride biggrin .

I read somewhere that England had the highest kid births for underage kids or something like that... I don't remember exactly...I don't put weight on those polls, you never know the situation, for all I know it might not even be their fault... what's "chavs"? Nevermind.... (Yay wiki) they seem like a combination of the stereotypical Chinatown merchant as far as counterfeit and cheap but gangster as far as clothing and robbery

Chinatown Merchant? Lol! Sounds like they could be our chavs. England does have a high rate for underage pregnancy, a lot of the people I went to school with were pregnant at 14 and 15. Most people that I did go to school with have actually had kids, some were at least 16 when they got pregnant :O Almost unheard of here!

Yeah, you know, they're in Chinatown and have those Big Name knock offs... Usually Coach bags are big, for $5 haha, I was in Washington D.C. with my Girl Scout troop and we found a bunch of them, they look really cute, and they were $5 a piece, I thought it was a good sale even if it was a knock off. That said my purse cost $15 (in Florida, in a Sanrio shop... it's Kuromi biggrin )

Really? They had kids? How does that work? The kids at my school, their parents would either butcher them or kick them out on the streets and not allow friends or other family to help...

Because in England we have an excellent system to deter children from having children! It's called, if you get pregnant you get a house and all the money you want from the council. Make no sense to me! When people ask me if I have kids and I say no they look at me like I'm strange. Maybe my biological clock should be kicking in as I'm 22? I don't understand why kids want to have babies? Except for getting a house and lots of money from the government ? Surely stretch marks make it so unworth it !!

yeah, but there are plenty of creams that help reduce stretch marks 3nodding now I kinda get it... that said I don't think I'd ever want to give birth at such a young age... how does the government pay for it all?

Awww... that's sad.... I'm paying into social security, it eats[removed]emoticon(' crying ') alot of my money XP and the worse part is, when I finally qualify for it, It'll probably be useless... I hear the baby boomers are hurting social security, not enough people are working and paying into social security... but the thing that bugs me the most, I want to become a teacher when I grow up, but if I work in the state that I currently live in I don't qualify for social security, so I'd be paying it all my life (until I finally got a job as a teacher) and it adds up sooo quickly, and then I wouldn't qualify crying

As far as the kids go, they don't get nice houses though, right? Because if they did that's ridiculous, I mean, rewarding someone for not being responsible? I hope I'm not being rude, personally, I wouldn't do something like that until after marriage, what everyone else does that's fine with me, but they should use protection and I don't think it's right to have a baby when you're that young. I mean, so many things could go wrong with the baby and what if the kid ("mother") dies in child birth? Then what? Just doing that to live a cushy life is L.A.M.E.

Yeah they do get houses from the council and they aren't small shacks like they used to be...I know one girl who stopped taking the pill (my mate didn't know), and she was straight away pregnant and got a house really quickly. It is disgusting! I personally don't hold the same opinions as you in regards to having a child after marriage, but I wouldn't have one with someone who I wasn't in a relationship with, madly in love with each other, and not been together ages! (If I'm honest me and and my fiancee are talking about having a child), but I have been with him ages and we are able to provide for a child ourselves without relying on benefits.
You aint sounding like an old lady, you're sounding like someone who has a good head on their shoulders and will go far with an attitude like that! If only more people did! We stop the problems that we are having. The mothers of the children live on benefits and in a nice house, and in most cases that I know of (no offence anyone), their boyfriends are on jobseekers allowance, and not actually looking for work. No idea how they get away with it? Silly UK!
Annoying thing though, when I was at university, my friends parents both died, she was 18, and she went to the council and said she was homeless (someone else was left the house and they were selling it), and they turned round to her and said they couldn't help her as she wasn't a priority? No idea why they would claim that! In my eyes she should have been pretty much at the top of the list, above the little slappers who can't keep their legs closed and have never heard of a johnny!! Rant over I think? lol

Thank you

Johnny? I thought that was like a bathroom or something? (Sorry, I googled to look up the word... maybe I'm looking in the wrong place)

That's so sad crying I know the US wouldn't care though, they'd be like, "You're 18, you're an adult, suck it up! ... Oh, and don't sleep on the benches in the park, it's annoying to the rich monkies who can afford the rooftop view and the $50,000+/week rent to live in a rich and fancy apartment,"

That said people try to cheat the system with the whole money from the government due to disability... that said... they have to legitimately be injured and unable to work by like a million doctors orders... and then they usually can't live off of it... and still the economy goes down crying like a dead fish down the drain...

But yeah, the money the government gives out usually pays for maybe a little bit of one itty bitty bill, it's pretty much nothing though... people would starve in an instant if they didn't get help from others or had a job of their own...

Over here you could easily survive on benefits! Ya can get housing benefit which pays for ya rent or mortgage, council tax benefit, child benefit, income support, the list is endless!!

Johnny= condom lol!

I think the US has the right attitude! At 18 you should be able to support ya self, and if ya can't then dont act like an adult and stay at home with ya folks and they can look after ya. My mum would have kicked me straight out of her house if i was pregnant, she would see it as my responsibilty, which is the way it should be in my opinion smile

Most people I know wouldn't survive a second in reality at 18... my sister is 21 and acts younger than me! It's absurd, she's 4 years older than me and can't be responsible for ANYTHING! She bought these birds and left them at the house while she's NEVER home. My family HATES birds, and guess who suffers at 5AM when the little buggers want to chirp! I'll give you a hint, it's not my "NEVER HOME SISTER"!
I'd say they should make the age at least 20, but rather than that, I'd rather have our educational system improved. I go to a public school, but it's a very nice school compared to the public schools, that said, I find that scary... but people really should be ready at 18 crying sigh...

See at 15 I would have been more then capable to look after myself. I think things are different in the UK to the States? Like we finish school at 16. Also, people in the UK seem more mature? I don't know if that's just an impression given off? Who knows!
