The moon is moving away from the Earth at roughly 4 meters every century ... maybe one day (a long long long long time from now) it will float away altogether. And without the moon there the Earth will slow its spinning (friction of the ocean on the sea floor and centrifugal forces).
Now theres something else for my distant descendants to worry about ....
Well add that to the list of other ways our earth/moon/sun are going to bite it. I'm glad I wont be around.
I had to look this up tho cuz it soundd interesting I found this so far. Without a moon
1. The day would be eight hours long. 2. The winds would be much stronger. 3. Complex life might not exist yet. 4. When life did arrive, it would have a different biology.

Let's not forget that in something like 5 million years our sun will have expended all it's fuel, and will expand into a red giant, completely engulfing Mercury and possibly Venus, and raising the surface temp of the Earth to about 150,000 degrees F.
Now THERE'S something for your decendants to worry about! xd
