For anyone who has used menstruation to counter arguments such as "I'm against anything that doesn't allow the egg to implant" such as the pill
and "Abortion is murder" with "Then miscarriages and periods are manslaughter" just to have someone say "menstruation can't be regulated by the woman" in defense, here's a link for you that you might be interested in.

Lybrel is a new pill on the market that is supposed to stop a womans period completely. So yay! Now women can regulate their periods! biggrin

Hmm is it actually healthy to mess up with your hormones like this (of course the producers will say it is)? Generally I'm not a big fan of pills anyway; I and my bf will probably just use condoms when it comes to it...

But the periods argument is silly XD, it's not like women have too few eggs that they would need to spare them... we have sooooooo much more than we can possibly need if we want to have children neutral But well the pro-lifers arguing that abortion is murder is just as silly as that, so yeah...

Actually, you can control your period no matter what hormonal contraceptive you're using. All you have to do is skip the placebo pills and go right in to another pack of active pills/patch/ring/whatever.

And for the record, yes it is perfectly healthy for a woman on hormonal BC to delay or skip periods. When you're using hormonal BC, your endometrial lining doesn't build up like it normally would. It builds a little bit and then stop and hangs out until your hormone levels dip. When this happens, the tissue sheds itself due to hormone withdrawal.

Physiologically speaking, there's no reason for a woman using hormonal BC to have a period other than to try and prevent breakthrough bleeding. (The longer you skip your periods, the higher your chances of unexpected spotting. This isn't dangerous or a sign that something's wrong, just a bit of an inconvenience.)
