Alrighty, so I went and changed my signature picture.
Because, quite frankly, I am fond of the one I put up.
I cropped it and made it smaller, so now there's less showing.

Anywho, I went into this topic, expressing my personal views on the social stress and pressure of being heavier.
http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/general-discussion/i-would-rather-be-dead-then-fat/t.41027697/

Which then led to him post-dropping me in this topic.

Now, I am well aware that the GD has some nasty people in it, so I try not to take it personally.
But it still gets me worked up.
Not to mention the misinterpretation of my post(s).

ANYWAY.
I consider myself fairly confident in how I look now, but...is it a bad sign that this kind of thing still gets to me? x_x Is there really any such thing as complete and utter confidence now?
gonk
*whinewhinecomplain*

Discuss;
Misinterpreted posts
Trying to explain the reasons for confidence in one's weight
Taking nude photos (with or without anything showing) & receiving ridicule for it

I will note that I've only gotten 3 (tops) derogatory comments thus far, it's just the ones that I've gotten that for some reason are getting under my skin.

Well you kinda set yourself up for it since you posted AND posted your photo in your signature.

Im not saying its your fault, nor am i saying change the sig.
Im just saying you're feeding the trollies with that...

When most people see that, they think 'Bingo! I bet i can break her down till she quits Gaia!'

I don't think it was misinterpretation, the guy is a tool.

Ignore those idiots, because they're not exactly doctors or any sort of professional anything.

I mean, that person's parent probably has arthritis also due to their age.

The best thing you can do is show that your self-esteem isn't affected by them. And that being a bit bigger isn't necessarly unhealthy if you take care of your body.

Just forget the haters, anybody whose opinion is worth having you probably won't find insulting people for stupid reasons in the GD. They also won't have their emo myspace photos in their siggy's.

Just ignore them. If you're proud of the way you look, then let it shine! I love your siggie, I think you're pretty. ^__^

I've dealt with people like that before. The best thing to do is just to ignore them and keep pride in yourself. I don't let it break me down. I see it this way: They may hate the way I look, but they don't have to look at me every day. Plus, I don't like the way THEY look. So if they call me ugly and fat, I call them ugly and bony. xD

Nobody sets themselves up to be harassed. I understand what you're saying, but the fact is, those people are pricks and I think she did a brave thing by standing up for herself and for others.

I'm impressed that she has the guts to post her picture in her signature; I certainly don't.

To the OP - Sadly people are just like that, but I still think it's great that you set them straight that larger people are not miserable. I love comments like "I would never make myself medically obese." I bet some of the people commenting are technically obese or overweight and don't even know it.
