It frightened Oguntocado more than he cared to admit at how weak this strong female had become. This female... whom had carved her name into his heart as if using those blades of hers making art of his blackened soul.

She was not weak normally. This was something new. Understandable, with the coming of powers. With fierce gentleness he brought her to a nearby cave half hidden by dark seaweed to which he had to bring her through a rather fast current to reach. Here the only dangers they were likely to face would be those they brought with them.

And those could be very dangerous indeed.

Oguntocado wondered who her demon father must be. Whether he should to his father or even grandfather about him. His & his sibling's transition into their powers had been as smooth as the blackest ink. Was that because of the powers being passed down or because of dutiful parental care, he now wondered. Wrapping fins and self protectively around the smaller blue female Oguntocado the war-loa-blessed set his scimitar carefully to the side. If there was fighting to come it would not be the type where his precious weapon would be of any use. An odd bereftment.

His mind kept returning to what might make Marinette's coming to power be so harsh and maddening. Her mother's madness? If it was only how she was raised and not being trained into it perhaps there was hope to save their children from such a transition.

Yes... their children. Oguntocado held his artist close. There would be time to think of their future after dealing with the present. "Thandeka... I will do all I can to see you come to control your powers, but it is you who must overcome. You must know I will never let you go." He may as well have said 'I love you' in conventional means but that was not his way. Besides, this was more. In those words Oguntocado conveyed more than just a physical holding of him upon her, but implied too that the reverse was true. That even if Marinette tried he was caught up in her and would not be freed.

And that ha had no desire to be so released.

Marinette's ruby eyes had closed as he brought her to the safety of the dark cave to rest, her strength slowly returning to her small body and with it her sanity. So...she wasn't mad like her mother. Privately she felt relieved. Power she could master, but how does one master the darkness of their own mind.

Her musings ended when he finally spoke against softly. She felt, rather than heard the words both the spoke and the unspoken ones, words that brought a small smile to her lips as she freed one fin to gently touch his cheek. She had known he would come, how she was unsure , but her faith had never waviered. He was her darkness, even as she was his.

Never had she felt this before, the ability to communicate without words yet to know another's thoughts and feelings. Even her tight bond with her brother was nothing comapred to this soul deep understanding. She rested her brow against his cheek, a gently smile on her lips as she leaned into his strenght. Hard times were to come but for now they were safe and had each other.
