Geekfests
I consider a geekfest to be any event where a large group of people get together to celebrate their geekiness and fandom! This can be a convention, a party, ddr competition, Rock Band competition, cosplayers meeting, etc.
My recent geekfest was last night. I went to see Bleach: Memories of Nobody at the one and only showing in my state. Because it was a "special" event, tickets were $10. When we got there a couple of friends and I realized we really should have cosplayed! The joke was made that I could only be Orihime or Rangiku (very funny guys ¬.¬). Rin could be Rukia, and Megan, known for her shortness and perkiness, could easily be Yachiru. We only saw one cosplayer there, as Ichigo of course. Apparently they had a skit as well, but I missed it. Movie opened with a special message from Tite Kubo and the viz media crew. Met all the voice actors, etc. Movie was okay, really liked the new character Senna - she's hilarious. But it seemed like they were trying to fit all of the characters from the series in this two hourish film. So, your fav character was probably shown and had a line - if only for a second. Afterwards, everyone from the theater just sat outside talking about the series, the movie, etc - spreading the geekdom. 'Twas fun.
