I figure the other thread is for introductions only. Plus I'm really bored wink

Andi Lamont stood on the corner, waiting for the bus. Even at nearly two am, the street was bustling with tourists. The covered bench was crowded, completely taken up by a woman and her two sleepy children, along with their shopping bags.

She leaned up against the sign and resisted the urge to close her eyes for just a moment. She hadn't slept again last night, and today had been entirely stressful. She wondered not for the first time why she kept the job at the Bellagio hotel and casino at all. She was not the biggest fan of vampires, and the Bellagio belonged to the Master of the City himself. But her foster sister Courine had gotten her the job, and the pay was good. She told herself again it was worth it.

She straightened as the bus pulled up to the curb, and waited while the passengers disembarked and then waited again while the woman from the bench hustled her children up the steps. With a tired sigh, she dropped into a seat and stared out the window as the bus shuddered and started on its way. She would have to switch busses twice just to get home...

Lefty liked being out in public, in crowded places. Sure he wanted to disintegrate and destroy all of society, but he still loved being around and within big groups of people. He liked people. Just not their system.

Better yet, he was out alone. He wasn't flanking Dad, er, Hiero or in a duo with Phoebus on some job. Yes, he was on a job, but solo. And even though he was technically working, he was glad to be out. Lefty hated hated HATED being cooped up. He was a creature of the outdoors!

The job was to start rounding up anyone could help out with this little murder issue. Like, it just wasn't cool, you know? Currently, his job was to find this Alexandria Lamont chick. According to his info, she was a Casino worker in her mid-twenties. At first, he didn't know why a human would be on the list, but it turned out she was living with a Lukoi pack member--whom he was also supposed to pick up along with her--and they were part of the little 'railroad' he'd heard about once or twice in some rather shady little monsters-only places. So, she might have some info on what kinds of critters like himself were going in and out of this city, or at least that was what he could figure...he didn't ask Hiero too many questions, good boy that he was.

Though Andi wasn't home, Lefty didn't know that, and was at her apartment door knocking, which they'd gotten through a vamp who was friendly enough with the Lukoi that he could get an address out of one of them if paid well enough. Lefty would like to break the door down, stomp around, maybe upset some furniture, but he had been very much told that he was to take a CIVIL approach, and only get a bit more 'intense' if need be.

Bah. Civility.

Andi loosened her tie as she stepped off the bus. The stop was only about a block from her place, but nights like this made it seem much longer. She rubbed her eyes tiredly and walked on up the street.

As she approached her house she noticed an unfamiliar car parked in the driveway. She hadn't been expecting anyone, and knew that William was staying the night with some of his pack mates for their monthly movie marathon the day before the full moon.

She frowned slightly and quickened her pace. A tall figure was leaning on the doorbell in the shadowy recesses of the doorway. She refrained from swearing at the blown light bulb that threw the entire scene into darkness. She wasn't too worried, it wouldn't be the first time someone showed up at the house at odd hours of the night...

Being a lycan did come with the big plus of extremely acute sense, including hearing. He heard her approach before he saw her, and smelled her as well. Female, judging by the scent, and he had a good idea of her size by her footsteps. When at first he only heard her, he made a move to duck away before she could see him, in case she was not the person he was looking for—being covert was always a good idea no matter what you were up to, and it might help later if nobody had witnessed him at her door, you never know—but then came back, also on impulse, when her pace continued towards the place with a sort of assured step that made him figure she probably lived here. She was heading right this way anyway.

Still in the shadows, he called, “Alexandria Lamont?”

Speaking, let alone near-hollering, probably wasn’t a great idea for a lot of reasons, but Lefty didn’t really think that much, y’know.

She lengthened her stride up the walkway and held out a hand confidently to the stranger. She could feel the pressure of his lycanthropy against her skin. "What's the problem?" She said, looking only a little harried and exhausted. "I can only assume it can't wait until morning, and tomorrow being the full moon..." She shrugged and trailed off slightly. She looked up into his face inquisitively. She thought for a moment as she dropped her hand to her side. For some reason she wasn't sure if she wanted to invite him inside...

The instant she made that remark about the full moon, he instantly assumed—perhaps correctly, perhaps not—that she was referring to his lycanthropy. She was human, the file said so, how could she tell? It couldn’t just be from living with a lycan. Could it? Did that work? Lefty didn’t know. He didn’t know one of her parents was a vampire; even if that was in the file, which it may or may not have been, Lefty was really not the time to read something in its entirety. He skimmed as fast as he could until he thought he’d gotten all of what he thought were the essentials, and then went on his way to ACTION.

That one comment got him on his guard, and he hadn’t even talked to her yet aside from calling her name. He took the hand though. His was rough, callused, and had an earthy sort of feel to it. Wild. You could just tell.

Now, what was he supposed to say to her again? s**t, he didn’t have Phoebus here to do that for him.

“Gotta ask you to come somewhere with me.”

Yeah, ‘cause THAT didn’t sound creepy or threatening or dangerous at all. Okay, another try.

“I’m here to gather people that we think may be of help in a homicide investigation, and you and your roomate are one of them. Don’t worry, you’ll be compensated for your time, and in the interest…”

What the hell was it again? Cripes, couldn’t he just grab her and go? He had the strength. Bah, no, he wasn't allowed...how he hated rules. if they were anybody's rules but Hiero's, Andi would be slung over Lefty's shoulder by now like a flour sack. Or a dead body.

“…well, whatever. Point is, I’m working for somebody who wants your help, you’ll be paid, I’m not a freaky stalker kidnapper terrorist rapist whatever so please don’t call the cops or pull mace out on me, and where’s the Lukoi you live with? Need him too.”

Not very tact, but he got to the point, at least.

Andi tried to be casual as she put her key in the lock. She had not been expecting that particular flow of words to tumble gracelessly out of the strangers mouth. She had been expecting something more along the lines of 'So and so sent me, kid in trouble, need your help!' Thats usually how things went at this time of night, especially after really long days. It was just her luck. It seemed her luck had a particularly vicious sense of humor tonight.

"Well um... I really don't know anything at all about um... anything. And Will's out of town, and I just worked a double so... This is just a little more crazy than I can handle at 3am." She tended to babble in the face of unknown danger.

She opened the door and started to slip inside. "And even if I wanted to help you, which I'm kind of thinking would be detrimental to my health, you would definitely have to clear it with my boss," She paused, she hated working for the vamps, but maybe just this once it would come in handy, "who happens to be the Master of Las Vegas."

********, she worked for the boss bloodsucker? Lefty wished he'd actually READ her file now. Except not. 'Cause Lefty never regrets. He'd never been clear on how things were between the Master and Hiero. Why was it again that even though lefty was almost certainly Hiero's favorite between the Angelbright brothers, it was Phoebus who was most likely to know more of what was going on? Oh yeah, because Phoebus could be trusted to not do anything stupid with that information. Still not fair!

He really did just want to pull a Tarzan right now and drag her off by her hair. Or was that caveman? Whatever. It would make things easier. besides, Tarzan and cavemen were the same thing, one just had a vine instead of clubs.

"What if I told you I already had?"

It wasn't technically a lie--not that Lefty would have any problem with lying, that was his brother's issue--because it was just a 'what if' question, but wording like that made it sound like a statement of fact.

She shook her head tiredly. "Then I definitely wouldn't believe you. As much as I am NOT a fan of the walking dead, I did see him at work tonight. I'm pretty certain he would have mentioned this." She closes the door and locks it. 'If he really wants in there isn't much I can do,' she muses, "but if he was going to do something like that he would have done it already.'

Well, THAT had been a bunk. See what doing things the 'proper' way got you? Doors shut! This, he figured, was why Hiero liked him better---the big fella knew that in the long-run AND short-term, it really was lefty's way that worked best. Pissed people off, yeah, but it worked best. And he'd prove it right now.

"Well, I tried to be polite, but you asked for this, princess," he said, gripping the doorknob. With the strength that was only commonplace in lycans, he ripped the door its hinges and tossed iot away, "Send the bill to The Garden. Oh, and don't be scared."

A pretty dumb thing to say for a guy who had just ripped off her door and was now making a grab around her waist.

Andi was reaching for the phone when the door gave a disconcerting squeal and was torn from it's hinges. 'Damn lycanthrope strength,' she thought as an arm looped around her waist. Although she knew it was rather futile, she struggled against the were's iron grip as he made some comment about not being scared, 'ha' she thought. Before she had even thought to scream she was dumped unceremoniously into the back seat of his car.

Yeesh, this whole thing was just a b***h, wasn't it? As he got into the driver's seat, he did an automatic lock of the car doors, and pressed a button that rolled up...not a screen between them, but bars rather like a dog's cage might be. Like a cop car's would have, but with a crucifix dangling from it.

"The silver plating plus the cross keeps me safe from most nasties...not that I have to worry about much from you.", he said, "But I'd rather you didn't try to choke me while I'm driving, since you don't seem to trust me that much. Like I said, don't freak out. Enjoy the ride. Ever hear of The Garden?"

Andi folded her arms across her chest and slumped down in the back seat. She ignored the were as he tried to make some attempt at small talk. Yeah she'd heard of the Garden, a couple of the local Lukoi worked there. She had never heard anything about them kidnapping anyone though, and that made her think this guy was either lying about being associated with it or there was something really weird going on.

She glared at the steel reinforced mesh between the front seats and the back. The silver mesh laid over it gleamed and flickered with the light from the street. The cross dangling from the top was slightly mangled, as if someone had been showing off and bitten it. She never could wear silver jewelry, it made her break out in a rash. Which almost got her in trouble a couple of times...

"Hey, I'm trying to make conversation!," Lefty prompted, "You know, you're the one who wouldn't cooperate. It's not like I wanted to do that...though I really should have in the first place. Geez, don't you trust anybody?"

As if the questions couldn't get any dumber...
