Has anyone else read the "lost" Jules Verne novel Paris in the Twentieth Century yet? Verne locked it in a safe where his great-grandson finally found it in 1989. It was first published in 1994 (French) and 1997 (English).

I read it a couple years ago and while interesting, it was also a bit depressing. I won't give any more away though. Just thought others might be interested.

This looks interesting. I must find it and read it now.

Intriguing-sounding. I need something good and bizarre to read this summer (long and likely bland train-trip looming up in my future, need books for it)

I keep hoping to find the book at the local library sales but no luck so far. I guess I'll have to break down and pay full price at the book store if anyone carries it around here in Kentucky. I could get it on ebay but I hate ordering stuff online.

It's a nice short book that I read in about two days.
Very intriguing and thoughtful, and amazingly true-to-life. I think it's something everyone can relate to at some time or another.

That's interesting, as this is from the man that proposed we shoot men out of canons towards the moon (not that I'm against that, mind you. I still think we should have sent Carrot Top out years ago). I'll have to read it now! biggrin

Sure I liked it, but it was way to dark and depressing for my tastes.

What we do these days to get into space isn't really that much less extreme or risky than what Verne proposed, Ambrose.
