"CARS!" Alair shouted, tentacley hair whipping around. It was bright daylight out and he was alone. But, he had his allowance and for once having his dad sleep away the day was turning out to be a good thing. He'd take the bus into town, and headed straight for the toy store. No adult around to lecture him on not spending all his money at once or whatever really. It was awesome!

The only problem was the toy store really REALLY didn't like unaccompanied kids. Alair hung around the entrance of a store two shops down and watched the entrance to paradise closely. Spotting a likely couple, he hurried up to walk right behind them. Sticking his hands in his pockets and slouching, Alair dug up his best grumpy look. Nothing that unusual about a kid sulking behind his parents.

The trick worked and as soon as the couple had headed down the aisle, talking about what to buy for their nieces birthday, Alair broke free of the couple and headed straight for the cars.

"Wicked.." he muttered as he stared at a display of muscle cars, not noticing the others in the aisle.

As he was staring at the cars a large body suddenly interposed itself between him and his shinies. Just as Alair was about to move around the teen stepped backwards and onto his foot.

The boy yelped with pain as he hopped backwards. "Owowowowowowowwwww...." Alair moaned. It wasn't really that bad, but it was like stubbing your toe, startling more than painful. He hadn't even noticed the rise in temperature, though his forehead (always sweaty) beaded up a little more.

"I-I didn't hurt you, did I?" Came the worried question, as Alair finally stopped hopping around.

Gingerly putting his feet on the ground, and discovering that the pain had already mostly disspeared, Alair grinned. "I'm good!" he chirped.

"Aren't they?" Alair sighed happily. "There's so many to choose from, I'm not sure which one to get. Although," the boy pointed at about three different cars, "I already have that one, that one and that one."

Alair glanced over at Nate, "Which would you get?"

Alair narrowed his eyes at the cars, before remembering his manners. "Oh, I'm Alair! I come from a scroll so that's why I look so weird!" He grinned at the teen before staring at the cars again.

"The red Viper is kinda nifty... Though maybe I could get a motorcycle this time! Do you know much they cost? I've only got this month's allowance..."

Alair gave the teen a bit of a dirtly look. "I can't reach that high," the boy said pointedly as though it was Nate's fault he was so short. Still, never one to hold grudges the boy checked the price. Letting out a huff of disappointment, he muttered, "Too much..."

Alair shook his head at the older boy. He was nothing like Halycon. Halycon was just... some much more awesome than this Nate. Nate seemed more like well, like he was even younger than Alair which was really really weird.

"Hmm..." the boy mused as he head headed towards the row of cars Nate had pointed out. "I can afford one of these.. Still need to save money for the bus," he chattered onto himself. "Oh... there's a red one. Dunno what kind."

After a moment he remembered himself and turned to Nate, "Thanks for pointing these out! I can buy one and take the bus and have a little left over so maybe if I save it I can buy two next time!"
