Father Knows Best

PostPosted: Sun Apr 16, 2006 1:23 pm

Three people that I noticed a LOT when I first joined:
Bunny--Man
NiGHTS Chao
GothicSamuraiRedux

So I started in 2004. I owed a friend a favor and supposibly if you join Gaia and put down the name of a person (in this case my friend) that person gets free gold. So that's all I joined for, give my friend gold

I went to Anime Expo 2005 and Gaia was there and a bunch of the members (including a good chunk of my friends) were going to the booth. Considering I didn't know what WAS Gaia, I just just said "meh" and went around the shopping complex (if you were there, I was the HUGE Game Boy Advance)

But after AX05, I decided to see what was the big fuss over Gaia confused Luckily the account I joined with (Terabyte180) was still on. I visited the game forums and been on ever since...Gaia is addicting whee heart

Went from Terabyte180 to Chichok (the name Terabyte was getting old and as technology was advancing 1 Terabyte didn't seem like a lot of memory anymore)

Then went to Chichok to Father Knows Best simply because my gf wanted matching names (she's Mother Knows Best)

Here is my story.

I joined Gaia in September of 2004 when I heard of the site, coming from all over the net. I was originally a poster of a few stories in Fan Fiction, though most of my stuff is the kinds that cannot be posted on a PG-13 site. sweatdrop

Anyways, my name back then was SonicSaga. I used to be a little hellraiser back then in Anime and Comics. I would stry away once in a while, but centered most of my posting there.

After a while, I bored of the various versus threads of Anime and Comics, and moved. By then, the Tabletop Gaming subforum had opened in VGD, so I moved there to talk about Magic the Gathering and others. I would sometimes stray into the main VGD to talk, but mostly stayed in Tabletop.

It wasn't long, I think around Summer 2005, that I was invited, under the name of YaeciaSindori, to join various guilds. That was fun. I even founded one myself, named the Amazons of Manga guild.

Later in the year, I would change my name to WildToushi and gender of my avi to male. I'm really a guy, and having a girl avi was getting boring.

Anyways, I joined this guild as, I think, YaeciaSindori stage. I even made my own profile, editted it and everything myself, and no, I am not trading/selling it.

I have a good history with Gaia, with only one temporary ban under my belt, but I try to do my best in VGD. I moved into VGD on a more permanent basis around September 2005, and have been there ever since.

Hope you all enjoyed my boring story. xd

well lets take it from the start

I was visiting friends and my then Girlfreind in Florida when she showed me Gaia.... on a whim I created my "Dampylle" account since it is the alias I use everywhere. I posted on and off for a while, Mainley in the VGD and Anime Forums.

After a while I drifted off to my old forum haunt (animenation for the record) and later came back to gaia when a freind invited me to an RPG..... again I was posting in the VGD and Aniem forums as well as a few RPGS in Barton. But more and more I got irritated with random fanatics in the anime forum and the lack of threads about more in depth animes... so I gravitated more and more towards the VGD

I started posting around and got to the point where a few regs seemed familiar with me.... and then eventually ended up in the Xenogears thread where it became well known that I was fairly literate in terms of debate, I quickly was added to the list of thread regs dubbed the Xenoheads.

From there I branched into other debates in other threads ranging from games being overated/underated to the occasional VS thread or Console related thread. Overtime I eventually came to be known for being well informed and logical in most instances.... and some of the regs became more aware of my sarcasm, sardonic comments, and overall sense of humor.

From there it just seemed to progress normally till one day I was shocked when at a convention..... a Moderator recognized me based on my badge (which of course said Dampylle) it honestly was not till that point that I even considered the idea that I might be well known on the forum.

Since then I have been invited to several guilds by VGD regs and even joined the VGP guild. I guess I am still coming to terms with being "known" as I still am not used to people coming to my defense when random fanwanks call me a fanboy or try to insinuate I am ill informed..... I honestly do not think I will ever "get used to it"

and that is about it

Sploogy

I saw gaia when it was featured on SA's weekend web. I lol'd, I joined. I can't even remember the name I originally signed up under, or when/why I changed it to sploogy... but I do have a picture sitting in my documents folder of an old avi labeled as "toast", so I'm pretty sure I was SploogyToast or something retarded like that. I got a couple of my friends to join along with me, to make it less dorky. they took no interest in the forum aspect of the site and took a liking to trolling in the chatterbox for gold. meanwhile, I browsed around the forums looking for actual conversation. being the huge nerd that I am, I eventually settled on the video games forum. hm... then, some stuff happened, and I took a long hiatus from gaia. when I came back, I found I had made some sort of impression I guess, 'cause some people remembered me. then I got pm'd to be a towns tester, which totally went to my head and was actually the reason I decided to stick around.

and I guess I've wasted more time on this site than I thought, 'cause like, I'm a regular now. apparently. also, heart you guys. you make lurking all the more fun.

edit: I remember the mysterious origins of my name now. I had originally wanted Toast, because toast has been a longtime nickname/onilne alias. but alas, it was taken, so I started making variations. Toasty, ToastyToast, and so on. eventually I had to resort to using SploogyToast, sploogy being a nonsense word I made up off the top of my head. hooray!

I've split this into two. You can ignore the first bit if you want.

This is about before Gaia:

Well I joined my first message board in Dec 99, I think. It was GameWinners and I was searching for cheats on GameBoy games when I saw a thread called "Link's Awakening Glitches" or something along those lines. Anywho, knowing a few myself, I thought I'd add a comment, which of course required me to join. Since I was only intending to post once, I chose the quick name of BGBW, my initials. After that, I got bored and posting some crappy spam topics and left. Then a few months later, got bored and decided to explore more of this message board feature on GameWinners. The main forum is split into around 5 boards, but they in turn are split into loads and loads of sub-forums. I spent my time in Game Help, which is split into games, or game series, so there were are 10 different sub forums for just Mario. Got into some guilds, where one member advertised another message board called Q's Laboratory. After a year on GW and a bit of Q's L, I finally got bored of GW and stuck with the smaller community of Q's L. Soon Q's L main admin got bored with the place and decided to close, but the second in command decided to use his website to host a new message board. So I migrated there for a some years. This board went through many names and site that I can't even remember most of them. As I was he sole English member eventually, it got a bit boring going online and being the only one posting, so I decided to look about on other message boards (to add, over these years I'd tested out some other boards, but as I hardly posted on them, I don't really have anything to say about them). Eventually I decided to try and settle down at a Zelda board called Zelda Power. It was OK, but one day someone posted a thread about some site called Gaia Online (or Go-Gaia as it was called back then). As I was still in this searching stage, I thought I'd check it out. I found it pretty cool and as they say, that was that.

This is about Gaia:

As I've stuck with the name BGBW mostly throughout these years, it's no surprise I kept to it. Of course, as gaming is one of my main interest I went there first (well after posting a crappy thread in the Welcome Forum). Joined a guild pretty quick, but members were slow, so it slowly died. Then the VG Paladins popped up. After seeing them post I started to read their thread and see what they were doing. Eventually I decided to join and became part of the regulars.
It was around this time I became infamous. I'd go in any thread, with any fault and write long paragraphs pointing out the faults. I'd post images with quirky phrases and many people hated me for being a Nazi. Eventually I gave up because it was obvious that people didn't really care if they were wrong, so I spent most my time just talking in the VGP's chatterbox with the legendary Kedian and .MADCom.

Talking of images. I was that guy who had those crudely edited images with stupid sexual message.

I was one of the original Zombies from Halloween 04 until the avatar server died and I've met a few UK Gaians in London.
That's about it really. Still on my original account and I still can't be bothered to donate.

Bloody hell, that was a bit longer than I thought I'd type...

Haha, BGBW, you're the one behind the Sephiroth image? I saw that around occasionally.

You sound like my older brother. Sometimes when he's arguing with someone, he'll just make long paragraphs explaining why they're wrong in the first place.

Maybe...you ARE my brother! Dun dun dunnnnnnnnn eek
