I'm trying to find a second piece for my college auditions this April. So far, I have it narrowed down to these four songs. Oh, and know that I have the look and voice to pull off these songs.

Hmm. I chose Wicked, but that's such a popular musical right now, I wonder if anyone else would be doing the same song. On second thought I'd choose How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

It all depends on what your first piece is.
I would go with a contrasting style of your first piece.

Traverser My first piece is "The Way You Look Tonight". Okay. Slower song. Not much of a range. I would go with "Sit Down." It's a faster song with a nice-sized range.

It was really a toss up between Dancing Through Life and Sit Down You're Rocking the Boat . At first I was going to say dancing through life however, I wasn't sure how many people would be doing a song from Wicked because it is so popular. Sit down your're rocking the boat might be something that the judges will not hear a lot of. But it really most important that you sing which song you have the most fun singing because it will be reflected in your performance

Well, I was thinking about it and I realized that it's a mass audition with tons of people coming, so I should do something that'll really stick out. Then I decided, why not do Springtime for Hitler from The Producers.

Why not an uptempo Sondheim song like Buddy's Blues from Follies. Doing a hrad song like that would really stick out to them.

i love college auditions, why becaues your are trying to get in, i think that when auditioning for College that new songs will work in your favor, i love Classic Musicals but i know that the judges will be tired of ALL THAT JAZZ, if you know what i mean, try siging a song from a new musical to show them that you are something new and not just following some trend, lol thats why i say so for Wicked- dancing thought life.
p.s. Break a Leg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Break a Leg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Actually new musicals that are very hot are actually not the right songs to do. My friend who is a casting director has rules about materials to audition with. He states that he never hired people who audition with something that's on broadway at the time or something from Les Mis. He says a lot of people who are doing auditions get turned off by any of those songs. So I don't think anything from Wicked would be your best bet. Especially since all the songs from it are totally played out.

exactly. there's this horrible phenomenon among some actors that for some reason they think the new popular songs will impress the adjudicators. but it really doesn't...more likely than not, there'll be plenty of others thinking the same thing, and that's what the judges get tired of.
those are two things to keep in mind...don't do what's overdone, or what's currently running on broadway...that's why i wouldn't do springtime for hitler or dancing through life.
