I've had this conculture for about 3 years or so now. There's no conlang to go with this culture really... they abandoned their own language thousands of years ago (kind of... it's literally a dead language, but they somehow lapse into it under certain circumstances... it's weird and hard to explain because no one is ever taught the language, they just somehow know it when they need it)
So I usually use Etiktik for these people too, who I simply call "The Assassin Clan" because I haven't officially named them yet.
These people live in a close-knit society with strict rules. They are all trained to be amazing and unparalleled assassins/fighters/etc. and have many advantages over any other foe. For one, they have heightened senses and reflexes compared to other races. These are further developed through rigorous training as children. Another ability they have is an ability to understand and speak any language they come to hear. This is a natural gift that no one knows how it came about, but definitely helps them with their jobs. They can also easily integrate into a society and seem like a real member, leaving people completely clueless to their true identity.
Some societal rules:
- all kills must be justified (examples: hired, revenge, self defence, etc.)
- if hired to do a certain task, you cannot back out of the agreement until said task is complete.
- you can be hired for multiple jobs at any given time, but jobs must not conflict with each other in any way.
- acts of intimacy are only allowed for one week after a kill (to mate of choice unless practising marriage)
That last one ensures 'strength of seed' - or for the survival of the clan/race by allowing the best assassins to reproduce. Also, if married, the number of children you have shows the quality and purity of you genes (the more children you have, the more you're respected. The more you're respected, the more jobs you get. The more jobs you get, the more children you have) Therefore, most people do marry. The only time they really get to choose any mate is at a younger age before they marry.
Males and females are trained much differently. This is because of the different ways they learn... and the fact that the girls are much deadlier than the boys. Therefore, the females are locked up as soon as they can move around of their own will. They are then trained through the cage bars until they are five years old. At that time they are moved into an isolation chamber that is pitch black and left there for a month with a weekly visit for food and water. This is to heighten their vision and teach self discipline. After that they are put back into their original cage and slowly integrated into the clan's normal life. It seems cruel, but is necessary. If this is not done the first person they tend to kill is their mother or some other close relative shortly after learning how to move, and then they never really stop until they themselves are killed.
Males are 'abandoned' at birth at a nearby town/village usually. Sometimes much further, but they are never truly abandoned. All males are left wrapped in a blanket and given a name. This name ensures that if the clan cannot keep full watch on the boy as he grows that he may be found one day. Sometimes a clan member integrates into the society to keep a close eye on the growing boy, but this is rare and only used under special circumstances. They lead a normal life within that society and never have a clue of their real fate. At age five they are 'kidnapped' in some fashion (sometimes they even burn an entire village so that it looks like he died in the blaze) and brought back and trained from there. Training is rigorous and can last up to 24 hours straight. At age 8 they are to fight against an 8 year old female (naturally superior in a fight. Males tend to do much better at the language comprehension abilities) and if they survive (most do as the female is chained and pulled back before she can kill) they become full members of the clan and can now be hired out. Females tend to not be allowed to leave the clan (hired out) until they are 10.
