Have you ever written a scene that has nothing to do with anything? For example, does a man wearing but a barrel ever walk up to your MC, inform them that they did a B&E at the MC's house, and is then never heard from again?

Alright, perhaps not something that odd, but you get the picture. Scenes that add something to the story, but not necessarily to the plot. I have a scene where one of my MC's goes to the doctor to get a burn from the previous chapter looked at; it really doesn't explain anything (besides the fact that her burn was, indeed, treated and not simply forgotten) or further the plot.

Do you have any of them in your stories? Read any of them? Do you like 'em? Hate 'em? Don't care either way?

Sometimes, I write a scene or two that has nothing to do with the plot, but it helps develop certain characters. I try not to write scenes or stuff that doesn't advance the plot or help with character development, because I have too many stories I want to write. If I did that, I'd be churning out like five hundred page stories.

Yes. I don't mind it going a little astray, but when it's like chapters upon chapters of meandering from the plot, then yes I do mind. I don't like it. So it all depends on how far and long the author strays.

I've written scenes that have nothing to do with anything at all - and I mean this quite seriously. Like, independent of any story I've written, I've made scenes of things happening that could develop into a story of it's own (but haven't!). I think I just use it as a short, simple release for creativity, but not for any actual usable purpose.

Anyone else do that before?

So are we talking like drabbles and one shots?

I've done that; did it just recently, in fact. It was a little Bleach scene. Was pretty well written (if I do say so myself), so I might make a story out of it 3nodding

Prolly won't, though.

I've written a few one shots, but they don't stay one shots. My reviewers keep asking for more.

The most popular one is my Spirited Away fan fic. It's a gift for my friend, but apparently, I write them well. Tis my fave movie though I haven't watched it in a long time. 0.o

When school was still in, I used to alternate between watching The Cat Returns and Spirited Away in the mornings as I got ready. I love Studio Ghibli~

The one one-shot I actually posted was supposed to be a once-shot for an AU Bleach fic I was going to write, but that didn't work out well, so I dropped it. The one-shot was pretty good, though (if a tad bit OOC).

The Cat Returns is one of my favorites. I've watched it a couple of times, but it's up there as far as movies goes. Spirited away is one of my faves; however, my all time fave movie is based on a game... Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. That's the shiznit.

Ah. I've had those stories where I write it on paper, but it doesn't end up the way I want so I scrap them. I still have the paper in storage though. As for being OOC, that's okay if it's not that much or if there's a good reason.

I love all Studio Ghilbli films; they're all so beautiful. I'm top three are Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and The Cat Returns.

The other day I was trying to explain that movie to a friend who didn't know ANYTHING about FF. . . Hardest thing I've ever done. . .

Yeah. They were alright (save for Renji's odd ramen obsession). I think it just seemed odd because it was AU. No, wait. . . There was an OOC line at the end, but it made me laugh, so I kept it.

Actually, I really like writing random scenes. It's relaxing when you're stuck on a particular scene to just skip to another for the time being. However, my storylines change all the time, so I try not to skip ahead too much, for it'll just mean more editing in the long run.

Princess Mononoke is good, but not one of my fave anime movies. I still like it though. I'd have to say my fave goes in this order, Spirited Away and then The Cat Returns.

Yeah, it's hard to explain anything to anyone if they don't understand the general concept about FF or the game. I mean it was hard for me to understand it in the beginning, because all I did was watch the movie. Now that I've read a lot on it, I understood what happened and am grasping what went on during the game. I don't mind spoilers for it, because almost everything said to me I already know or know parts of it. I blame fan fiction and my obsession with FFVII fan fics.

Well, we don't know what he really likes... so I suppose it's okay to a certain extent. Doubt he'd pick ramen over saving his friends though. Ah okay.

*nods* I just like writing random stuff cause I can and probably I'm either stuck on something or I'm inspired to write a one shot. It's usually a result of me chatting with friends or RPing. Either way, it turns out to be quite amusing even if some of it is OOC to a certain extent.

Ack! I forgot Howl's Moving Castle! Well, I like the book a little more, so I guess it's alright. Princess Mononoke was the first one I saw. When I was little, I went to a private Catholic school, and one of my classmates knew every line in that movie by heart. We used to it on the ramp in front of the science room and she'd act for me. Good times~

Mmhm. When I first watched Advent Children, I pretty much didn't question anything, which really helped me enjoy the film XD At the time all I knew was there was a chick named Tifa, it was the game with Cloud (*was a Cloud fangirl when she was younger*), and the pink chick got killed by the silver-haired guy. Now I know a lot more, so it makes so much more sense.

His favorite food is Taiyaki (I believe thats how how it's spelled). But at the time I couldn't remember that, so I just picked the default XD He shot Rukia over the ramen. But it was with a paint gun. . . and she ate the last one. . . I'd do the exact same thing in his position! Just kidding. I suppose I made him a little too cocky, but he was pretty cocky when he was first introduced in the series, so it's justified XD

Some OOC fics are quite amusing; it's when the author is trying to be SERIOUS that I just stop reading.
