Genre: The category a story or script falls into - such as: thriller, romantic comedy, action, screwball comedy, so on.
The point of this forum, for those people like me who went "Genre subforum? Wha?", is to discuss different genres, ask questions, define them, whataver.
I bet you're thinking, "How is she's gonna keep repeat threads out? Then there's only be a few threads!"
Well, this is for discussing different elements of genres, not the genre as a whole.
What goes here: Discussions on the many different aspects of genres. This includes movies, books, plays; if it's prose, it's got a genre.
What doesn't go here: "Fantasy!" Thread in which somebody wants to talk about 'fantasy' as a whole. Sorry, guys, that's a no-go, we have a thread for each Genre stikied. Discuss them as a whole there. Repeat topics will be deleted.

What if I want to discuss things like where my novel would fall, and if you can have mixed genres and so on? Because the novel I'm writing now seems to be a mix of romance, mystery, very gothic something, wacko/bizarro, drama, and literary fiction sort of. So... do I talk about this here? Or make another thread in here or something?

Well this thread is more along the lines of what people read, at the moment. But I guess it would be under drama if you wanted to choose a genre, or writing sites usually put it under general.
I guess in your situation you have to choose the strongest genre possible.
Sorry if this didn't help.
If you want to make a thread, do so. But if it does not really go here, either me or Lt will move it to where it needs to go. biggrin

Favorite genres to read (novel/comics/freelance fiction) and watch are: Christian military romance/dramas (first and foremost these are my favorite, because the authors I read put a lot of research into their novels); supernatural vampire/werewolves/witches; fantasy (science fantasy, erotic fantasy, Sword and Planet); science fiction (steampunk, space opera, biopunk and cyberpunk.)
Most of my comics are science fiction and based in steampunk. I watch a lot of space operas. Most of my novels are military or christian military romances and supernatural vampire/werewolf stuff (I was really into it as a teenager, and because of it I have a bookshelf stuffed with those types of novels.)
My fantasy novels are most from the Warcraft series, I never got into any high fantasy novels (most of them bore me.) The Warcraft series happens to be well done and I have a love for several characters. Not because of the games. I liked them then, but the novels really set the characters in stone for me.
