Coroner was founded in 1985 in Switzerland and composed of three members: Tommy “T. Baron” Vetterli (guitar), “Marquis” Marky Edelmann (drums) and Ron “Royce” Broder (bass/vocals).
Coroner was one of those underrated metal bands, mostly known only to their hardcore fans. Although often labeled as a (technical) thrash metal band, their music went beyond what is usually thought of as thrash metal. Coroner stood out of the metal scene with outstanding musicianship, raw power and innovation, thus addressed by many critics as “the Rush of thrash metal” (who were a trio like Rush as well).
Coroner released five albums and a semi-compilation in eight years, from the unpolished and technical speed of 1987’s “R.I.P.” to the heavier and more laidback style of “Grin”, which are all different and yet all are undeniably related, and undeniably Coroner.
